About Smiley Aesthetics

What is Smiley Aesthetics?

Smiley Aesthetics is a medical spa group with seven locations: Nashville, Gallatin, Soddy-Daisy, Collierville and Knoxville in Tennessee, plus Bowling Green in Kentucky and Rome in Georgia. Most of its services are aesthetic, including Botox, Letybo, dermal fillers, Sculptra, Scarlet SRF microneedling, facials, IPL and laser hair removal. Medical weight loss is one of its services, and so is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, which it lists without explaining how that treatment works.

The weight loss program uses liraglutide, semaglutide or tirzepatide. Its medication is compounded through Strive Pharmacy, a compounding pharmacy in Tampa, Florida. The program can be done fully virtually across the states it serves. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with later appointments available. Weekend appointments are offered too, though no weekend hours are listed. On Google, the practice has a 5 rating from 230 reviews.

What does it cost?

The monthly weight loss subscription runs $299 to $575, and the medication is included. Higher doses require a larger vial, which raises the monthly cost to $425, so ask what your likely monthly number will be. The initial consultation is $150, which Smiley Aesthetics says is there to confirm candidate suitability. The subscription is billed monthly, with no required commitment.

Its online shop lists separate compounded products at different prices: semaglutide at $169 to $229 a month, and liraglutide at $315 a month. Smiley Aesthetics does not explain how those prices relate to the subscription. It does not say whether it accepts insurance, and it does not mention HSA or financing options.

What should you ask before you book?

Start with who signs the prescription. Smiley Aesthetics describes its weight loss visits as handled by its APRNs and providers, but it does not name a prescriber. Ask for the name, credentials and state license of the person who approves your prescription, and ask before you pay.

Ask whether the $150 consultation covers the labs. The program includes all lab work, but it also says labs will be ordered if you have none from your primary care provider within the last 6 months. A footnote adds a $150 fee for lab ordering and record setup, so confirm what you will actually pay before the first visit.

Ask whether your medication is compounded. Smiley Aesthetics states plainly that "compounded medications are not the same as commercially manufactured, brand-name pharmaceuticals." Ask what that means for your dose, whether a brand-name option exists, and whether it changes your monthly price. Also ask what monthly check-ins, dose changes and follow-up cost, and how cancellation works. Its virtual states are grouped oddly on its booking options, so confirm that your state is covered.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a monthly, no-commitment weight loss subscription that includes the medication, you are comfortable with a compounded medication from an outside pharmacy, and you can get the prescriber's name before you pay. If you mainly want injectables or skin treatments, the weight loss question matters less, and those are the practice's main services.
