About MA Clinical Services

What is MA Clinical Services?

MA Clinical Services is a medical weight loss practice at 5700 6th Avenue in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It is located inside Modern Apothecary, an independent pharmacy in downtown Kenosha. Erin Merritt, PharmD, owns both MA Clinical Services and Modern Apothecary.

The clinic offers three services: medical weight loss, functional laboratory testing and 3D body scanning. Medical weight loss is the main one. Hannah Sorensen-Mack, BSN, RN, is the registered nurse and the only person named as a prescriber.

The first consultation is by video. In its own words: "At your initial consultation, you will see the provider virtually." Prescriptions go to Modern Apothecary. After that, you can take medication home to give yourself, or come to the clinic weekly to have it given. You can choose oral capsules or injections, but no medication is named.

The lab menu includes cortisol, DUTCH hormone, food sensitivity, gut barrier, environmental allergy, stool, vitamin status and organic acids tests. The 3D scan takes under a minute, takes no photos, and produces a digital report of measurements and body fat estimates. The clinic has a Google rating of 4 from one review.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices. It offers a free 10 minute discovery call and a free phone consult, but it gives no consultation fee, program price or monthly cost. It also does not say whether medication is included in any price, whether it accepts insurance, or whether it offers financing, memberships or HSA payment. Ask for every number in writing before you commit.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs your prescription. The clinic names one prescriber, Hannah Sorensen-Mack, BSN, RN, so ask whether she is the one who prescribes for you and whether a physician or nurse practitioner is involved.

Ask which medications are offered, and whether they are brand-name or compounded. Ask whether the program price includes medication, and what the medication costs on its own.

Ask what follow-up visits, lab work and body scans cost, and whether the weekly clinic visits for administration carry a separate charge.

Since prescriptions go to Modern Apothecary, which its owner runs, ask whether you can fill them at a pharmacy of your choice.

Ask about insurance and financing. If there is a membership, ask how to cancel and whether a contract applies. Ask for the clinic's hours, since none are listed.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a Kenosha practice that starts with a free call and a video visit, and you are comfortable confirming who prescribes and where prescriptions are filled before you pay. It may not suit you if you need a price before you book.
