About Foundational Health

What is Foundational Health?

Foundational Health is a functional medicine practice at 9901 NE 7th Ave., Suite A201, in Vancouver, Washington. The phone number is 360-512-3650. Elysia J.B. Harrsch, ND, is the only prescriber named, and she describes a decade of dedicated practice. Her stated focus includes thyroid disorders, insulin resistance, hormone imbalances and autoimmune diseases.

The practice offers four services: GLP-1 therapies, low dose naltrexone, nutrition consults and supportive supplements. Weight loss has its own section, and both GLP-1 therapies and low dose naltrexone are named there. It does not list hormone therapy as a service, though its supplement description mentions hormonal health. It serves people in Washington and Oregon. In its own words: "We currently serve individuals in WA and OR with in-person or telehealth options." Google lists the practice at 4.7 from 12 reviews, under the category Medical office.

What does it cost?

The weight loss consultation is $150 for a 45-minute visit. The practice describes it as being for patients "interested in concise medicine with weight loss as the primary goal." It does not publish GLP-1 medication prices, and it does not say whether medication is included in the $150.

Other visits are $75 for a 15-minute brief follow-up, $115 for a 30-minute regular follow-up, and $150 for a 45-minute extended follow-up. A lab review is also $150 for 45 minutes. Monthly plans are $99 for an individual, $169 for a family and $175 for concierge medicine, each billed every month. Only the concierge plan has a real description. The individual and family plans still carry placeholder text, so ask what each one covers.

The practice is not contracted with any commercially available insurance company. It works on a fee-for-service basis, collects payment at the appointment, and provides superbills so you can seek reimbursement from your insurer. Its financial policy says labs and most medications are typically covered by insurance, depending on your plan and deductible. Cancellations need 24 hours notice. A deposit serves as a cancellation fee for late cancellations, but the deposit amount is not stated.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes the prescription. Harrsch is the only prescriber named, so confirm she is the one who would write any GLP-1 or naltrexone prescription.

Ask whether medication is included in the $150 consultation or billed separately, and what it costs per month. Ask whether the GLP-1 is brand-name or compounded, and where it is filled.

Ask which medications would go through insurance and which you would pay for yourself, since the practice is not contracted with any insurer.

Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost in total, and whether labs are drawn at the office or elsewhere. Ask the deposit amount and when it is charged.

Office hours appear two ways. One version has the office open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9 to 4, and closed Tuesday. The other has it open Tuesday too. Wednesday is closed in both, so confirm before you travel.

If you plan to use telehealth, ask whether the price is the same as an in-person visit. If you consider a monthly plan, ask whether it can be combined with the consultation and how to cancel it.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you live in Washington or Oregon, want a focused weight loss visit, and are ready to pay per visit without insurance billing. If you need the medication price in writing before you book, call first and ask for it.
