About Sol Family Wellness

What is Sol Family Wellness?

Sol Family Wellness is the practice of Meggan Solfest, ARNP, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Its core model is mobile. She visits patients at home in Pierce County and offers telemedicine across Washington State. The practice also has an in-clinic option at 7025 27th St West, Suite 1, University Place, WA 98466, open on Thursdays only, inside Pearl Chiropractic Clinic. Its services cover hormonal and metabolic health, in-home care, chronic disease management, and lifestyle and wellness, including a medical weight loss program and a hormone optimization program. Google shows a 5 rating from 7 reviews. Hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 9 to 5 and Thursdays 9 to 4, and they can change.

What does it cost?

The Medical Weight Loss Program is $1,500 for three months, with weekly 15-minute check-ins, and the medication is not included in that price. The Hormone Optimization Program is $550 for three months, with monthly 30-minute check-ins. Lab testing and medications are billed separately from both programs.

A new patient visit is $350 at home, $250 by telemedicine, and $275 in clinic. Follow-ups are $200 at home and $175 by telemedicine or in clinic. Time past the booked visit length costs $50 per 15 minutes, and mobile visits more than 10 miles from Tacoma add a $30 travel fee. A Foley catheter change is $200.

Visits are cash pay only. In its own words: "Choosing not to work with insurance gives me the freedom to care for you the way I believe you deserve." The practice will provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement or FSA/HSA use, and it runs labs and prescriptions through insurance when possible. No financing plan is listed.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice carry a $100 fee. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged 50% of the visit fee.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which medication the weight loss program uses, since the practice does not name it. Ask whether that medication is brand-name or compounded, and what it costs each month. The contact form offers a free initial consultation, yet new patient visits are listed at $250 to $350, so ask whether the free consultation is a separate visit and what it covers. Ask what lab work costs on top of either program, and whether the $550 hormone program includes any medication.

Ask for a written estimate of your first three months that includes travel fees, time overages and labs. Ask how many years the practice has been open, since that is not stated. Confirm that Meggan Solfest will write your prescriptions herself.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a nurse practitioner to come to your home or see you by video, and you are ready to pay cash for visits, labs and medication. If you want to come in person, plan for a Thursday. If you need insurance to cover your visits, this practice does not bill insurance for them.
