About Richmond Aesthetic Surgery

What is Richmond Aesthetic Weight Loss?

Richmond Aesthetic Weight Loss is a medical weight loss clinic at 11934 W Broad St, Suite 200, Richmond, VA 23233. It focuses on GLP-1 injections, a class of prescription medicines that includes semaglutide and tirzepatide. The clinic is led by board-certified plastic surgeon Neil J. Zemmel, MD, FACS. Board-certified physician assistant Sarah Ashcraft, PA-C, is also named as a prescriber. The clinic links to a sister plastic surgery practice, Richmond Aesthetic Surgery, and it offers body contouring after major weight loss, including arm lifts, body lifts, thigh lifts, tummy tucks and liposuction.

The clinic offers four injectable medications: Ozempic (semaglutide), Mounjaro (tirzepatide), Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide). All are once-weekly injections. The program begins with an initial consultation. Next comes insurance authorization if you have coverage, or a self-pay start if you do not. After that, check-ins happen every four weeks to review progress and discuss dose adjustments.

What does it cost?

The clinic lists two prices. Wegovy is about $500 per month, and Zepbound starts at $650 per month. In its own words: "a competitive price that includes ongoing support from our experienced providers." That sentence describes support, not the medication. The clinic does not say whether the drug itself is included in the Wegovy price. No prices appear for Ozempic or Mounjaro.

Insurance is accepted. It accepts most major providers, including Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield and TRICARE, and it can prescribe Wegovy through a plan that covers weight loss treatment. Patients without coverage can use self-pay options, but no self-pay amounts are given. The clinic does not publish a consultation fee, membership terms or cancellation rules.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs the prescription. Two clinicians are named, so ask which one reviews your history and writes the order, and who handles your follow-up check-ins.

Ask what the monthly fee covers. Find out whether the medication is billed on top of the Wegovy or Zepbound price, and ask for the full expected monthly total in writing.

Ask whether the medication is brand-name or compounded. The clinic names brand products but does not say where its supply comes from.

Ask what the consultation, each follow-up visit and any lab work cost, and whether your insurance covers those visits.

Ask how to cancel, and whether you must commit to a minimum number of months. Ask whether telehealth visits are available and what the office hours are, since neither is listed.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you live in or near Richmond, want a GLP-1 injection program with regular check-ins, and are willing to get the full monthly cost in writing before you book. It is also worth a call if you have lost a large amount of weight and are asking about body contouring from the sister surgical practice.
