About Advantage Primary Care

What is Advantage Primary Care?

Advantage Primary Care is an independent primary care practice at 7605 Forest Ave, Suite 412, in Richmond, Virginia. Primary care is the core of the practice. Alongside it, the clinic offers cash-pay hormone therapy, medical weight management, and aesthetic work such as Botox and laser skin treatments. Peptide therapy and longevity programs are not among its listed services.

Dr. Edward Lewis, James E. Detrick, PA-C, and Christina Foster, FNP are the prescribers. The clinic welcomes patients 14 and older and lists Glen Allen, Midlothian, Short Pump, Henrico, and Chesterfield alongside Richmond. It is open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 8 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday 8 AM to 2 PM, and Thursday 10 AM to 7 PM, and it is closed on weekends. It has 4.8 stars on Google from 123 reviews.

Hormone therapy uses Biote pellets containing estrogen and/or testosterone, and the clinic describes itself as a Biote Certified Provider. Weight management is a medically supervised program with an initial assessment, nutrition and exercise planning, and ongoing follow-up. No weight-loss medication is named. In its own words: "We offer traditional primary care services with insurance acceptance alongside innovative cash-based treatments."

What does it cost?

The membership, called Advantage Direct, has a $99 initiation fee for new patients, then $99 a month, with a three-month minimum. Existing patients pay $99 a month with the same minimum. The membership covers unlimited regular office, sick, or telehealth visits. Labs are billed on top, at cost, and procedures are billed separately with upfront pricing, such as a skin biopsy at $185.

The clinic accepts insurance for primary care, but it does not list the plans it takes. It does not publish prices for hormone therapy or weight management, and it does not state a consultation fee. The membership does not say whether medication is included in the weight management program. Ask for those numbers before you commit.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which of the three prescribers would write your hormone or weight-loss prescription, and how often you would see that person. Ask whether the monthly fee covers weight-loss medication, and which medication that would be. Ask whether the hormone pellets are a manufactured product or compounded by a pharmacy. Ask what the pellet procedure and each follow-up lab panel cost, in writing. Ask which insurance plans cover primary care visits. Ask whether telehealth is available where you live, since the clinic does not name the states it serves by telehealth. Finally, ask how you cancel the membership and what happens after the three-month minimum, because the clinic does not describe its cancellation terms.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want primary care and cash-pay hormone or weight care under one roof in the Richmond area, and you are comfortable getting prices and cancellation terms in writing before you pay. If you want every price published before you call, expect to ask a few questions first.
