About Virginia Weight & Wellness

What is Virginia Weight & Wellness?

Virginia Weight & Wellness is a medical weight loss practice at 4439 Cox Road in Glen Allen, VA 23060, with a phone line at (804) 726-1500. The practice is physician-led. Dr. Jeffrey Sicat, MD, FACE, MFOMA, is an endocrinologist who focuses on obesity medicine and is board certified in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Erin Schrinel, PA-C, and Heather Sedwick, PA-C, are physician assistants, and Julie Goodman, FNP, MSN, NP, RN, is a nurse practitioner on the same team.

Its services are the medical side of weight care. It starts and adjusts weight-loss medication when it is indicated, monitors other conditions that weight loss affects, and adjusts or removes medicines for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol. Visits include an InBody body composition analysis. It names Ozempic, Saxenda and Trulicity, and it also has savings program pages for Zepbound and Mounjaro. It does not name hormone therapy, peptide therapy or longevity medicine. It does not mention telehealth, and its visit instructions describe coming to the office. The office is open Mondays by appointment only and Tuesday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Google shows it at 4.7 from 23 reviews, under the category weight loss service.

What does it cost?

It is cash pay only. In its own words: "Because most insurance plans do not cover medical weight loss services, we do NOT accept insurance and we do not submit bills to your insurance company." A new patient visit is $250 with Dr. Sicat, or $200 with any of the other three prescribers. Follow-up visits are $90, usually monthly during active weight loss. A re-establish visit is $180 if it has been more than a year since your last appointment, and after three years you are seen as a new patient.

Labs, when ordered, are drawn at any LabCorp you choose, and the lab bills your insurance directly outside the clinic visit. An EKG needed for appetite suppressants is included in the visit at no extra cost. Further heart testing is billed through a cardiologist's office. The visit fees do not include medication, and it does not publish medication prices. It does not mention financing, HSA use or membership terms.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which prescriber would sign your prescription, and what that visit fee would be. Ask whether the monthly amount you would pay includes the medication, and what Ozempic, Saxenda or Trulicity would cost out of pocket. Ask whether the medication is brand name or compounded, since the clinic does not say.

Ask what your lab work and follow-up visits will cost in total. Thyroid tests and blood work are required before weight-loss medication, and the labs are billed to insurance, so ask what you would owe. Ask whether telehealth is available, how cancellation works, and whether the Zepbound or Mounjaro savings programs apply to a cash-pay patient. If you want hormone, peptide or longevity care, ask first, because none of those are named.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want in-person medical weight loss care from a physician-led team and you are ready to pay cash for visits and medication. If you need hormone, peptide or longevity care, confirm it is offered before you book.
