What is Springfield Medical Center?
Springfield Medical Center is an integrative medical and pain practice at 3970 Springfield Road in Glen Allen, Virginia, in the Richmond area. It describes itself as a concierge practice and opened in 2002. Two osteopathic physicians prescribe there. Dr. Albert L. Valente, D.O., is board certified in Internal Medicine and offers concierge primary care. Dr. Suzanne Lagosky, D.O., is board certified in Osteopathic Medicine and in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and focuses on back, neck and joint pain. A nutritionist and a massage therapist are also listed on the team, but they do not prescribe.
The practice offers primary care and internal medicine, PRP injections, laser therapy, facet injections, trigger point injections, osteopathic manipulation, manual therapy, massage and physical therapy, and nutrition and fitness counseling. It also lists a medical weight loss program, though it names no medication and gives no program details. In its own words: "Dr. Albert Valente, Internist, offers concierge primary care, medical weight loss program, and non-surgical treatments for back, neck and joint pain." It does not list hormone therapy, peptide therapy or longevity medicine. In-office and telemedicine appointments are both available. Office hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 9:00am to 3:00pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. Thursday and weekend hours are not listed. Google shows a 5 rating from 12 reviews.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for any service, including the weight loss program. No consultation fee is listed, and it does not say whether a monthly fee would include medication. Concierge membership terms and cancellation policy are not published either.
Dr. Valente accepts Aetna (excluding Aetna Leap), United Healthcare, Anthem BC/BS, Anthem Healthkeepers, Cigna (excluding Cigna Connect), Southern Health, PHCS network and One Net PPO network. He does not treat Medicare patients, even on a self-pay basis, and cannot treat a patient whose primary coverage is Medicare or Medicaid under a secondary plan. As of March 1, 2023, Dr. Lagosky is out of network with all insurance companies, so her services are self-pay. She can treat Medicare patients only on a self-pay basis, under a contract stating the patient will not bill Medicare.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask which of the two doctors would prescribe for the weight loss program, and whether that doctor sees you in person or by telemedicine. Ask what the program costs, what the consultation fee is, and whether the monthly fee includes the medication or bills it separately. Ask which medication is used and whether it is brand-name or compounded, since the clinic does not say. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, how the concierge membership is priced, and how you cancel. If you have Medicare, confirm whether any service is possible for you before you book, since Dr. Valente does not treat Medicare patients.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want concierge primary care or treatment for back, neck or joint pain, and you are willing to get prices in writing before you commit. It is a weaker fit if you need Medicare coverage or want to know the weight loss medication before you book.
