About Progressive Primary Care

What is Progressive Primary Care?

Progressive Primary Care is a Direct Primary Care practice at the Life Centre Medical Building & Athletic Club, 9844 South 1300 East, Suite 125, in Sandy, Utah. Dennis P. Law, MD, is the physician who runs it, and he is board-certified in internal medicine. Its main work is a monthly membership for primary care with no insurance billing. Medical weight loss sits alongside drop-in visits, sports and missionary physicals, and medical cannabis card evaluations. Hormone therapy, peptide and longevity services do not appear among its offerings. Its Google listing shows 5 stars from 17 reviews.

The weight loss program combines GLP-1 medications with nutrition and activity plans that Dr. Law reviews personally. In its own words: "Not a medspa. A real medical program." The first four weeks include an intake visit, an EKG, a urinalysis, lab work and a GLP-1 prescription sent to a pharmacy. Check-ins are weekly and virtual at first, with one 30-minute follow-up at week 3. Month 2 adds another follow-up, and months 3 to 6 move to monthly check-ins. Month 6 ends with a face-to-face visit. The practice works with a compounding pharmacy partner, and medication ships to your door at no additional charge. Telehealth is available, but the first evaluation and key follow-up visits take place in person in Sandy. No hours are listed.

What does it cost?

Membership starts at $49 a month for adults, and the weight loss page gives a range of $49 to $99 a month. Membership includes the weight loss program's visits and monitoring with no separate program fee. Lab work is about $65 self-pay for members as well.

Non-members pay $150 for the intake visit, which includes the EKG and urinalysis, plus about $65 for lab work. The program then costs $100 a month in months 1 to 2 and $50 a month in months 3 to 6. Medication is listed as "varies," and whether it is included in any of these fees is not stated. Sports physicals cost $75 and missionary physicals cost $150. Medical cannabis card evaluations carry a small additional fee, but no amount is given. The first consultation with Dr. Law is free and lasts 15 minutes. Insurance is not billed, but HSA and FSA funds can be used for eligible expenses. Financing is not mentioned. No membership commitment or cancellation terms are stated.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether the monthly program price includes the GLP-1 medication, and what the medication will cost each month. A clear estimate is promised before you start, so ask for that in writing. Ask whether the medication is the brand-name product or a compounded one from its pharmacy partner. Ask who signs the prescription and what the intake visit decides, since Dr. Law determines eligibility there. Ask what the program costs after month 6 if you continue, because no price is given for that stage. Ask what the lab work will cost after insurance, since the clinic will help you check. If you join membership, ask about any commitment period and how to cancel. Ask for the clinic's hours by calling 801-571-0796.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want one physician to handle both your weight loss and your everyday primary care, and you are ready to get the medication cost in writing before you start. If you are looking for hormone, peptide or longevity care, those services are not offered.
