What is Utah Cosmetic Surgery?
Utah Cosmetic Surgery is a plastic surgery practice and med spa at 5292 College Dr #302 in Murray, Utah. Most of what it does is surgical, including breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction and face lift. It also offers cosmetic injections, chemical peels, laser hair removal and laser tattoo removal. Weight management is one of its listed services, under a Wellness heading. The practice says it was founded in 2003. Its surgeons are board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Ryan Kunkel, Dr. Rhett Willis and Dr. R. Scott Haupt.
The weight program is built on weekly Semaglutide/B-12 injections. Alysha Eskelsen, FNP-C is the nurse practitioner named to prescribe them. In its own words: "we use a compounding pharmacy that mixes semaglutide with B-12 vitamin to help with nausea." Google lists the practice at 4.7 from 328 reviews, under the category weight loss service. It is based in Murray and says it serves patients from Salt Lake City, Logan, Park City, Ogden, Provo and St. George.
What does it cost?
It does not publish a price for the weight management program. It does not say whether the medication is included in any fee, and it does not state a consultation fee. Its booking form offers a no-charge online consultation and an in-office one, but it does not say what the in-office visit costs. The weight program is self-pay only. The clinic does not bill insurance for the office visits or the medication.
Its blog says the clinic works with financing partners, including CareCredit, Alphaeon Credit, Cherry and Mountain America Credit Union, and offers in-house payment plans. Those posts are about surgery, so ask whether financing applies to the injections.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes the prescription and how often you would be seen by that person. Ask whether one of the surgeons oversees the weight program, since the surgeons are the physicians named on the practice's materials. Ask whether the monthly or per-visit fee includes the medication, or whether the drug is billed separately.
Because the clinic uses a compounded version, ask how the compounded medication is made, which pharmacy supplies it, and what standards that pharmacy follows. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, and whether either is required. Ask how long the program runs, how a cancellation or pause works, and whether the online consultation can cover the prescription. The clinic does not say whether video visits are offered, so ask that directly. Finally, ask how the clinic screens patients for the conditions it lists as reasons the drug is not for them.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want weekly semaglutide injections from a nurse practitioner at a practice that also does cosmetic surgery, and you are ready to pay cash with no insurance billing. If you would rather have a weight program run by a physician, or you need the price and everything included in writing before you visit, get those answers first.
