What is BeWell Health & MedSpa?

BeWell Health & MedSpa is a medical spa at 3080 N 1700 E, Suite B, in Layton, UT 84040, on the corner of Hwy 193 and 1700 East. It shares the building with Woodland Park Dental. The clinic calls itself a medical spa and lists four services: bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, epigenetics, sexual health, and diet and weight loss.

Aaron I. Butcher, PA-C, is the founder and hormone therapist, and he is the only prescriber named. He was trained in primary care as a physician assistant. The weight loss program uses semaglutide injections with a DEXA scan to track results. The epigenetics service centers on a Pro7 genetic test, which examines seven genes related to methylation. In its own words: "Each patient receives customized treatment tailored to each individual need."

Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with the office closed from 12:00pm to 1:00pm for lunch. The clinic also has an online shop of supplements and a FuelFlex Autoship program, which are separate from the medical services.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices for weight loss or hormone therapy. It also does not say whether medication is included in any price, whether it accepts insurance, or what a consultation costs. The only prices given are for shop items, such as the Testosterone Support Complex at $56.00. Shop orders over $50 ship free.

Ask for every charge in writing before you start. That means the consultation, the program or visit fee, the medication, DEXA scans, lab draws, and follow-up visits. The clinic does not say whether any visits can be done by video.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes the semaglutide prescription. The only prescriber named is Aaron I. Butcher, PA-C, and no one is named for the semaglutide. Ask whether he signs it or someone else does.

Ask whether the monthly fee includes the medication or whether the medication is billed on top of it. Its bio-identical hormones are processed by a compounding pharmacy, so ask which pharmacy fills them and whether the medication is compounded. Ask what lab work and follow-up visits cost, since blood tests are part of the hormone program.

Ask how to cancel, and whether there is a contract or a minimum term. Ask whether the clinic bills insurance at all, and what the consultation costs.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are ready to pay cash for hormone or weight loss care, you can work around the Layton office hours, and you want to know the prescriber before you book.
