What is Island Beauty Aesthetics?
Island Beauty Aesthetics is a medical spa at 936 Coronado Blvd in Universal City, Texas 78148. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Most of what it offers is aesthetic and spa work, including Botox and Dysport, fillers, microneedling, laser hair removal, lashes, facials and massage. Weight loss is one service on that list. Its weight loss service names semaglutide and a Lipo B shot, along with lipo laser and EMS body sculpting. In its own words: "from cosmetic injections to skin care and weight loss solutions." Hormone replacement therapy is also among its listed services.
Zulfiqar Shah, MD, is listed as the physician and medical director. His bio calls him a board-certified internal medicine physician and a certified specialist in injections, cosmetic lasers, male enhancements, bioidentical hormone replacement and anti-aging medicine. It says he owns three medical spas and continues to see clients in New Braunfels and San Antonio. The same bio places him at a medical cannabis practice in Seguin. The team also includes an aesthetician who works as a master injector and a licensed registered nurse. The clinic does not name either of them as a prescriber. Google lists the clinic as a weight loss service, with a 4.8 rating from 133 reviews.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for weight loss or hormone therapy, and it does not say whether semaglutide is included in any price. The prices it does publish are for memberships, which are mostly spa treatments. Bronze is $40 a month or $440 a year, Silver is $70 a month, Gold is $150 a month and Platinum is $250 a month. Platinum includes lipo laser and EMS body toning, but membership is not the same as a weight loss program. Every membership carries a one-year commitment, and canceling within 12 months costs $99.
The clinic offers a free one-on-one consultation. It does not say whether it accepts insurance. The payment option it describes is financing through Affirm, which lets you split a charge into four interest-free installments over six weeks, with no fees, no interest and no hard credit checks.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes the prescription, and whether Dr. Shah sees weight loss and hormone patients at the Universal City office, since his bio lists New Braunfels and San Antonio. Ask whether the monthly price for a weight loss program includes the medication, and whether the semaglutide is brand-name or compounded. Ask what visits, follow-up appointments and lab work cost, and what the program involves over the months you stay in it. For hormone therapy, ask what testing comes first and who pays for it. Ask whether any part of the visit can be done by telehealth, since the clinic does not describe it. Ask whether insurance is billed at all, and how canceling a program works if you stop early.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want weight loss or hormone care from a clinic that also does spa and aesthetic work, and you are willing to get medication prices and the prescriber's role in writing before you pay. If you want a clinic that publishes prices for its medical services, this one does not, so get those numbers before you commit.
