About Fowler Medical Group

What is Fowler Medical Group?

Fowler Medical Group is mainly a membership-based primary care practice, which it calls Direct Primary Care. It has offices in Temple and Elm Mott, Texas, and it also names Waco as a clinic location. Ryan Fowler, MD, leads the practice as its physician and general practitioner. He built it from his earlier practice, Equilibrium2 Holistic. In its own words: "a simple model that restores the relationship between patient and doctor."

Weight loss and hormone optimization are two of its services, alongside IV infusion therapy, intramuscular injections, sports medicine, and regenerative options such as PRP, Regenexx, and bone marrow concentrate. The weight loss program starts with baseline labs and InBody body composition testing, then builds a plan around nutrition, resistance training, cardio, and sleep. It uses weekly GLP-1 injections as part of that approach. The hormone program starts with a history, a review of symptoms, and labs for thyroid, sex hormones, and metabolic markers.

Telemedicine covers secure calls, texts, emails, and video for follow-ups, medication questions, urgent concerns, and lab reviews. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Its Google listing shows a 4.9 rating from 159 reviews.

What does it cost?

Membership is priced by age, per month. It lists $39 for birth to 18, $79 for ages 19 to 44, and $109 for ages 45 and up. Adults pay a $50 initial fee and commit to a minimum of three months. Veterans' enrollment fees are waived. If a whole family joins, only the parents pay the initial fee. Membership includes office visits with no copay or deductible, and the practice mentions semi-annual and annual discounts that you have to ask about.

It does not publish a price for weight loss care or a consultation fee. It does not say whether GLP-1 medication is included in membership, or whether weight loss visits are covered by insurance.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether the monthly fee includes the GLP-1 medication or whether the drug is billed separately. If it is billed separately, ask whether it is brand-name or compounded, and what it costs each month. Ask what the labs, InBody scans, and follow-up visits cost, and whether hormone lab work is covered by membership.

Ask which states its telemedicine covers, since the practice does not say. Ask whether weight loss visits are billed to insurance, and what you would pay if they are not. The menu lists insurance for major medical and catastrophic needs, but the practice does not explain what that covers, so ask.

Ask who signs your prescription. Ryan Fowler, MD, is the physician named for prescribing, so ask whether he reviews your case personally and who covers when he is not available. Ask how the three-month minimum works, whether you pay it up front, and how you cancel after that. You can call 1-254-295-0732 to ask.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a membership-based primary care doctor you can reach by phone, text, or video, and you are comfortable paying a monthly fee on top of any medication or lab costs. It is a harder fit if you need a firm price for weight loss or hormone care before you call.
