What is Hendrick Body and Wellness?
Hendrick Body and Wellness is a physician-led medical weight loss clinic at 1888 Antilley Road, Suite 200, in Abilene, Texas. Adlene Jebakumar, MD, is the medical director and is board certified in internal medicine and obesity medicine. Andrea Levrets, APRN, FNP-C, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who also prescribes.
Medical weight loss is the main service. It includes a medical exam, treatment for abnormal weight gain, and treatment for a plateau or weight gain one year or more after weight-loss surgery. Medication options are oral or injectable GLP-1 agonists. The nutrition side covers dietitian consultations, nutrition counseling, food log tracking, and lab analysis with supplement recommendations. Labs are drawn on-site, and a bioimpedance body composition machine measures muscle mass and water weight. It is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon. The phone number is (325) 670-6580. Google shows one review, and it gives five stars.
What does it cost?
It does not publish a price for the medical weight loss program or its medications, and it does not state a consultation fee. It does not say whether medication is included in any price. The prices it does publish are a lab draw fee of around $15 and a gastric sleeve cash package at $9,000. That package is surgery, not the medication program. It is an introductory price, subject to change, with possible added charges and financing available. It excludes Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, and a sleep study and bariatric vitamins are not included. The clinic accepts most insurance, including Medicare, and says to confirm coverage with the customer service number on your card.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether any program fee includes medication, and what the medication will cost you each month. Medication is filled at a pharmacy, and the pharmacy benefit check can take a week or two, so ask what you pay while you wait. In its own words: "All medication will be picked up at the pharmacy." Ask whether the GLP-1 agonist prescribed would be brand-name or compounded, and what each follow-up visit costs. Follow-ups are scheduled every four to six weeks.
Ask whether medical visits can be done by video. The pharmacy team handles benefit checks by call or tele-visit, but the clinic does not say whether its medical visits can be remote. Ask how cancellation works and whether there is a membership or contract. If the gastric sleeve package interests you, ask who the bariatric surgeon would be. A departure notice says Ashley Bradshaw is no longer with the Hendrick Clinic surgery practices, effective Nov. 15, 2026.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want a physician-led medical weight loss program in Abilene with dietitian support and on-site labs, and you are willing to get prices in writing before you commit. It is also worth calling if you have had weight-loss surgery and are dealing with a plateau or regain, since that is one of the listed services.
