About Volunteer Primary Care
What is Volunteer Primary Care, LLC?
Volunteer Primary Care, LLC is a primary care office at 127 W. Macon Ln, Ste 2, in Seymour, Tennessee. A Nurse Practitioner founded it in 2022. It mainly provides primary care for patients of all ages, and weight loss medications are one of its listed services. The prescribers it names are Jeremy Strader, FNP-C, MSN, RN; Alex Vest, FNP-C, MSN, RN; and Alexandra Barton, FNP-C, MSN, RN. It names Sevier County, Blount County, Maryville, Knox County and South Knoxville as the areas it serves.
The office also offers acute care for nonemergency illness, infusion therapy, DOT physicals and in-office lab work. Telehealth is available, but only for patients who are located in Tennessee. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and closed on weekends. It holds a 4.9 Google rating from 61 reviews. The phone number is 865-268-5009.
The weight loss page names four medications: semaglutide, tirzepatide, NAD+ and sermorelin. The clinic calls these weight loss medications and peptide injectable medications. It does not list hormone therapy, and the office says it cannot prescribe controlled substances by telehealth, does not manage chronic pain, and cannot prescribe Suboxone.
What does it cost?
Uninsured patients pay $100 for an initial visit and $80 for each follow-up, collected at the time of service. Initial 5-panel lab work is $50 for uninsured patients. A DOT physical is $90.
The clinic accepts Aetna, Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee (except Plan L and E), Cigna (except TN Connect), Medicare, TennCare, Wellpoint and UnitedHealthcare. It lists all government marketplace plans as out of network.
It does not publish prices for its weight loss, peptide or NAD+ treatments, and it does not say whether medication is included in any price. The membership terms mention a registration fee and a monthly membership fee, but they do not state the amount. Members get two monthly visits included. A missed appointment costs $20 for members and $40 for non-members unless it is canceled at least two hours ahead. You can cancel a membership at any time by letter or email, but no refund is given once a fee has been processed.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask which provider writes the weight loss prescription, since the clinic does not name one for that service. Ask the monthly membership fee, and whether it covers the medication or whether the drug is billed separately. Ask whether semaglutide and tirzepatide are brand-name or compounded, and what the pharmacy charges for each. Ask what follow-up visits, lab work and infusion therapy cost, because it publishes no prices for infusion therapy.
Ask what happens if a payment fails. The terms give two weeks to add a new payment method, you cannot be seen until fees are current, and the membership is canceled after 90 days of non-payment. Ask whether your plan is in network before you pay anything.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want a Tennessee primary care office that also offers cash-pay weight loss medications, and you are willing to get the medication, prescriber and membership costs in writing before you book. If you are looking for hormone therapy or controlled-substance prescriptions, the clinic does not list them, so ask before you call.
