About Lowcountry Wellness Center

What is Lowcountry Wellness Center?

Lowcountry Wellness Center is a direct primary care practice at 1565 Sam Rittenberg Blvd, Ste 201, in Charleston, SC. Patients pay a monthly membership instead of billing insurance for each visit. Hormone therapy, weight loss and metabolic health, and anti-aging and longevity medicine are three of its listed services, alongside thyroid, diabetes, and cholesterol care. The one prescriber it names is Dr. Penni Vachon, ANP-BC, APRN, who founded the practice.

In its own words: "Customized bioidentical hormone restoration in a patented, organic, solvent-free oil-based topical." Telemedicine 1:1 consults are part of the all-inclusive hormone option. The office is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. It is closed on weekends, and it does not offer walk-in visits or care after hours.

What does it cost?

Hormone therapy has two published options. The all-inclusive Menopause Method and Andropause Method is $300 a month, which is a $100 Foundational Membership plus a $200 Method Subscription, and it includes the medication. Regular Hormone Management is $250 a month under the Health Optimizer membership, with medications billed separately.

It does not publish prices for medical weight loss, a consultation fee, or cancellation terms. The practice does not bill insurance for visits. Health insurance is not required to join, but it recommends separate coverage for hospitalizations, surgery, emergency care, and specialists. Membership may be payable with HSA or FSA funds, depending on your plan. Google shows a 4.8 rating from 39 reviews.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes and signs your hormone prescription. Dr. Vachon is the only prescriber named, and the hormone page mentions trained hormone practitioners without naming them, so ask for names and credentials. Ask whether the $300 price covers every lab draw and dose change, and what the pharmacy will cost on the $250 option. Ask whether the hormone is compounded or a brand-name product, and what "patented" means for who makes it. If HCG could be part of any plan, ask what it costs.

For weight loss, ask the monthly cost, whether any medication is included, and who prescribes it. Membership is described as including routine lab work, so ask whether hormone labs are part of it too. Ask how to cancel, how much notice is required, and whether a paid month is refunded if you leave early.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a primary care membership you can reach during weekday office hours, you are comfortable paying out of pocket for hormone care, and you have or plan to keep separate coverage for hospital and specialist care. It is not a good fit if you need walk-in visits, weekend care, or a published price for weight loss treatment before you call.
