About Simply Injectables

What is Simply Injectables?

Simply Injectables is a medical spa at 237 Wayland Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island, in Wayland Square on the East Side. Most of its work is injectable cosmetic treatment, including Botox and fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Voluma. Medically supervised weight loss is one of its services, built on two medications, tirzepatide and semaglutide.

Susan McKenna, MSN, AGACNP-BC, sees all new patients and leads the GLP-1 program, overseeing each plan from the medication and dose to follow-up visits. Consultations can be in person or virtual. The office is open 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, and it is closed on Sundays except select Sundays by appointment. Google lists the clinic under weight loss service with a 4.9 rating from 173 reviews. In its own words: "we recommend tirzepatide for most patients."

What does it cost?

GLP-1 treatment is cash pay only. The clinic does not accept insurance for it, but it takes cash, credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards, and financing through Allē payment plans (powered by Cherry). Microdosing is $350 a month for either medication. Tirzepatide is $450 to $500 a month and semaglutide is $375 to $425 a month, depending on dose. Your monthly cost can start lower and change as your dose changes.

Booking takes a $100 deposit, which goes toward treatment. If you decide GLP-1 is not right for you, the full $100 can be used toward another Simply Injectables service or product. The clinic does not say whether the medication is included in the monthly price, or whether the deposit is refundable in cash.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether the monthly fee includes the medication, and whether that medication is brand-name or compounded. Ask which dose the $350 microdosing price covers, and what a move to a higher dose does to your monthly bill. Ask whether the $100 deposit can come back to you in cash if you do not start.

Before it prescribes, the clinic requires a physical exam with lab work completed within the past 6 to 9 months, and it asks your primary care provider to send records. Ask what the labs cost and who pays for them. Ask what follow-up costs, since visits happen monthly and sometimes biweekly. Ask how to cancel and whether you must commit to a set number of months. Ask who signs your prescription.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want medically supervised GLP-1 treatment paid entirely in cash, can get a physical and recent lab work done, and want the option of a virtual consultation. If you are mainly after a clinic that bills insurance or quotes one price that covers the medication, get those answers before you book.
