What is MD Weight Loss and Beyond?
MD Weight Loss and Beyond is a weight loss and nutrition practice at 1084 E Lancaster Ave in Bryn Mawr, on the Main Line. It pairs nutrition counseling with prescription weight loss medication. It says assessments are done by a board-certified MD and a registered nurse, and that anyone considering medication needs a telehealth or in-person visit with its physician, a board certified medical doctor. It does not name the physician.
It prescribes semaglutide and tirzepatide, including Wegovy and Zepbound, and says it prescribes only FDA approved, brand-name medications. Medication is optional. Visits run once or twice a week, in person or virtually, and each lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. Programs include nutrition counseling with or without medication, meal planning, weekly weigh-ins, children and teen health coaching and eating disorder coaching. It also offers a local meal delivery service, group exercise through a fitness partner, B-12 shots and Botox. It says it has been in business for 10+ years. It does not offer hormone therapy, peptide therapy or longevity care.
What does it cost?
It publishes no program or medication prices. The first consultation is free, a one-on-one meeting with its registered nurse and nutritionist. It advertises a free first month of Zepbound but does not give the terms. On insurance, in its own words: "If your insurance policy includes coverage for weight loss, we provide documentation for reimbursement." It also accepts HSA and FSA payments.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask the name and credentials of the physician who would prescribe for you. Ask what the program costs per week or per month, and whether the visits are priced separately from the medication. Since it prescribes brand-name drugs, ask whether your insurance covers them and what you would pay at the pharmacy if it does not. Ask what the free Zepbound month requires, and what you will pay once it ends. Ask whether you must commit to weekly visits, and how to stop.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you live on the Main Line and want frequent nutrition support alongside brand-name GLP-1 medication. If you want a prescription with little coaching, or you want hormone care, ask first, since this practice is built around regular visits.
