About Remedy Functional Medicine
What is Remedy Functional Medicine?
Remedy is a cash-pay practice at 9455 SW 80th Avenue in Portland, Oregon 97223. It describes itself as a practice for women in perimenopause and menopause, and it uses the label Functional & Longevity Medicine. Stacy Marie Ronquillo, AGACNP-BC, APRN, FNP-BC, IFMCP, MSN, is the only prescriber named. She is the founder and lead nurse practitioner, and patients keep the same provider from the first visit on. Remedy lists hormone therapy, prescriptions, and GLP-1 medications as its services. Hormone therapy is offered when it is clinically appropriate and part of a broader plan. The approach rests on eighteen years in conventional medicine, more than a decade of it in the ER.
Telehealth is available to patients who are physically in Oregon, Washington, or Nevada at the time of each visit. In-person visits are by appointment only. Hours run 8:00AM to 4:00PM Pacific, with no days given. Google shows a 5 rating from 28 reviews.
What does it cost?
The new patient visit is 90 minutes and costs $450. Every patient starts there, and it is the time to decide whether the approach fits. In its own words: "Your first visit is about understanding what's going on, not starting treatment yet."
Remedy does not bill insurance for visits. It accepts FSA and HSA cards, and most labs and prescriptions can still be billed to insurance. The first six months, called the Framework, include labs, and its price is worked out at the consult. After six months most patients move to a lighter membership, which has no published price. Remedy does not publish medication prices, and it does not say whether medication is included in any program price.
Programs and memberships are non-refundable once you enroll. A new patient consult cancelled with 48 or more hours' notice is refunded minus a $100 administrative fee. Cancel within 48 hours or no-show, and 50% of the visit fee is forfeited.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether any program price includes GLP-1 medication, and if so, which one. Ask whether that medication is brand-name or compounded. Remedy works with accredited compounding pharmacies when a medication is not covered, so the answer changes what you pay. Ask what the lighter membership costs after the Framework, and what labs cost outside a program. Occasional visits without a program are available for episodic needs, billed by time and subject to availability, with no support between visits.
Prescriptions are written for up to 90 days, and refills require follow-up rather than happening automatically. Ask what follow-up a prescription requires and what it costs. Two different clinic phone numbers are published, so confirm which one reaches scheduling. Finally, ask who handles urgent or after-hours needs. Remedy is not a primary care practice and does not provide after-hours or emergency care.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want one nurse practitioner for hormone therapy, prescriptions, or GLP-1 medications, you can pay cash for a $450 first visit and a non-refundable program, and you already have a primary care provider for physicals, screenings, and urgent needs. It is a weaker fit if you need after-hours care, or if you want medication prices before you commit to anything.
