About Dr. Kat Lopez Sankey MD

What is Dr. Kat Lopez Sankey MD?

Dr. Kat Lopez Sankey MD is a membership-based integrative and functional medicine practice at 3537 North Williams Avenue in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Kat Lopez Sankey, MD, is the one physician listed as the prescriber. The practice describes the doctor as having "over a decade of experience integrating both conventional and natural therapies of optimal health and longevity."

The practice runs three programs: a Functional Medicine Membership, Medical Weight Loss, and Hormones + Metabolic Health. Weight loss is one of the three, not the whole practice. The weight loss program names Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound. The first visit is in person in Portland, and follow-up visits can be virtual.

What does it cost?

The Medical Weight Loss one-year package is $2000. It includes four doctor visits, a year of prescriptions and unlimited portal access to the doctor. Medication is not included. The program page lists Zepbound at $500 a month after its intro deal, Ozempic at $350 a month, and compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide at $35 to $80 per dose. Extra virtual visits cost $250 each.

Membership is $250 a month on a 12-month commitment and covers up to eight office visits a year. The practice does not publish prices for medications or labs in its Hormones + Metabolic Health program, and it does not publish cancellation terms.

The practice is cash pay only. You can pay out of pocket, with HSA or FSA funds, or submit the bill to your insurer as out-of-network visits. It does not bill insurance directly. The first 20-minute introductory call with the doctor is free.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask what the package will cost you in total. The page says medication is separate and that the practice may choose brand-name Zepbound or Ozempic for self-pay patients, so ask which one you would receive and what a month would run.

Ask whether compounded medication is the default. The compounding pharmacy is Northwest Compounders in Beaverton. The program page quotes $35 to $80 per dose, while the blog quotes $115 for a month's supply, so ask which figure applies.

Ask what lab work costs and whether any is included. Ask whether anyone will check your insurance for Wegovy or Zepbound before you pay. Ask how a 12-month commitment ends if you stop early, and whether any of the fee is refundable. Ask whether peptide therapy or longevity medicine is offered, since neither is listed as a service.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want one physician who, by the practice's own description, replies directly to texts and calls, you can pay out of pocket or with HSA or FSA funds, and you are willing to get medication costs in writing before you commit. It is a poor fit if you need the monthly price to include medication or need the practice to bill your insurer directly.
