About BioLounge

What is BioLounge?

BioLounge is a functional medicine clinic at 1741 NW 24th Ave., Portland, OR 97210. Jeff Grimm, NP opened it in 2018. Its prescribers are Jeff Grimm, NP, Jackie Kirihara, ND, and Caryl Kenworth, NP. Megan Barnett, MS, CNS and Tara McCoy, MS, CNS lead its nutrition visits.

Its weight loss service centers on compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide injections. Hormone work includes testosterone therapy (TRT) and estrogen and progesterone therapy, given by methods that include pellets. Longevity care includes peptide and regenerative therapies. In its own words: "At BioLounge, we practice precision longevity medicine"

It is open 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, by appointment only, and it reports a 4.9 Google rating from 64 reviews. It says it serves patients across the Pacific Northwest, not only Portland.

What does it cost?

BioLounge is a cash pay clinic. A health insurance policy may still provide out of network benefits, so check with your plan.

Weight loss starts with a $599 get started fee. That covers the first two months, including your first bottle of semaglutide and a six-week follow-up visit. The Basic Plan is then $325 a month, or $269 a month with six months prepaid. It includes unlimited weight management visits and monthly semaglutide medication. The $425 plan, or $389 with six months prepaid, adds semi-annual lab panels, an annual FibroScan liver ultrasound, an annual DEXA scan, and semi-annual nutrition counseling. It also lists monthly semaglutide, with no separate charge shown, so ask whether $425 is the full monthly cost.

A new patient visit is $450, a follow-up consultation is $300, a check-in is $175, and male testosterone membership is $175 a month. Nutrition visits run from $120 to $360. Memberships are month to month and can be canceled at any time. BioLounge does not say whether the new patient fee covers labs or medication.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which prescriber will write your prescriptions, and whether you will see the same provider at each visit.

Ask whether the semaglutide or tirzepatide in the monthly fee is compounded, as the weight loss service describes, or a brand name such as Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro.

Ask whether labs and follow-up visits cost extra on the Basic Plan, and whether the $450 new patient visit covers labs or medication. Ask which peptide therapies are offered, since BioLounge does not name them, and what they cost.

If you prepay six months, ask what you get back if you cancel early. Ask whether video visits are offered and which towns outside Portland they serve. BioLounge does not say.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want cash pay care in Portland that brings weight loss, hormone and longevity services under one practice, and you are comfortable with a monthly membership once the questions above are answered in writing. If you need a single visit with no membership, or care by video from outside Portland, ask before you book, because BioLounge does not say either one is available.
