About Compassion Family Medicine
What is Compassion Family Medicine?
Compassion Family Medicine is a direct primary care clinic at 11122 S. Yale Ave, Suite B, Tulsa, OK 74137. Its main business is family medicine on a monthly membership, led by Nevin White, DO and Emily White, DO. Members get direct access to their doctor. It does not take health insurance for primary care. In its own words: "We don’t accept health insurance, but we do offer cost-effective monthly memberships and can cover most of your primary care needs."
The core services are physicals and routine care, chronic disease care, pediatrics for ages 3 to 17, acute and urgent care for established patients, minor procedures, and telemedicine. Weight loss therapy, hormone therapy, B12 injections and sleep therapy are extras at a small additional cost. The weight loss program names semaglutide (Ozempic), tirzepatide (Mounjaro), HCG, MIC (Liposlim), phentermine and phentermine + topiramate. Hormone therapy covers testosterone or estrogen, and the hormone therapy page names Nevin White as the physician overseeing it. The clinic has a Google rating of 5 from 53 reviews.
What does it cost?
Adult membership is $99 a month. Pediatric membership for ages 3 to 17 is $49 a month. The weight loss add-on is an extra $25 a month, and only membership patients can join it. The clinic does not say whether medication is included in that $25. It does not publish prices for hormone therapy or a consultation. Procedures may carry a small fee for medications and supplies. A pay-as-you-go option is mentioned, but its price is not published.
Labs, imaging and prescriptions can go through your health insurance when the clinic refers you for them. Membership can be canceled at any time, for any reason, with no lock-in period or cancellation fee. Cancellation requires notice given in person at the office. Past payments and the current month's payment are not refunded.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the weight loss prescription, since the clinic does not say whether Nevin White or Emily White handles it. Ask whether the $25 add-on covers the medication or whether you pay for it separately, and what that would cost each month. Ask whether the injectable and oral medications are brand-name products or compounded.
Ask what a consultation costs, and what the follow-up visits and lab work cost for weight loss or hormone therapy. Ask the price of hormone therapy and which labs come first. If you plan to use HSA or FSA funds, ask, because it is unclear whether those accounts can pay membership fees. The clinic does not list office hours, so ask when the office is open. Call 918-528-5614 and ask how an in-person cancellation works and what happens to the payment for the month you leave.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want a family doctor on a flat monthly fee, are willing to pay cash for primary care, and want the medication name and total monthly cost in writing before you start. It is not a fit if you need Medicare, Medicaid or SoonerCare to pay for your primary care, because it cannot accept new patients with those plans.
