About WeightWise
What is WeightWise?
WeightWise is a bariatric practice at 1800 S. Renaissance Blvd. in Edmond, Oklahoma. It says it has been open since 2006. Most of its work is weight loss surgery, including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, duodenal switch and revisional operations. It also runs a non-surgical medical weight loss program, which it also calls the metabolic program. Dr. Greg Walton is the one prescriber it names. The nurse practitioner who runs the weight loss visits is not named.
Among hormone therapy, peptide therapy, longevity medicine and medical weight loss, it lists only medical weight loss. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Friday, 8 AM to 12 PM. It has a 4.7 rating on Google from 290 reviews. It serves patients from across Oklahoma and surrounding states, including Tulsa and Norman. In its own words: "The program consists largely of the same services provided to surgical program patients without proceeding to weight loss surgery."
This listing is for its Edmond office at 1800 Renaissance Blvd.
What does it cost?
Without insurance, the first nurse practitioner visit is $135 and follow-up visits with the nurse practitioner are $85. Dietitian visits are $60 to start and $40 after that. Exercise visits are $20 each. Resting metabolic rate testing and VO2 testing are optional, at $100 each. Visits come every 4 to 6 weeks. The initial screening lab panel has no published price. WeightWise does not publish a medication price or say whether medication is included in any visit fee.
Insurance is unclear. It says: "WeightWise will not bill insurance for any medical weight loss services." Its FAQ, though, says it takes most insurance policies. Surgery is priced separately, with the cash-pay sleeve listed at $9,995.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who the nurse practitioner is and who signs any prescription. Ask whether a weight loss medication is part of the program, whether it is brand-name or compounded, and whether its cost is in the visit fees. Ask what lab work costs beyond the screening panel. Ask whether any visits can be done by video, since WeightWise does not say. Ask how billing works for your plan, how you cancel, and whether there is a minimum commitment. Ask what would get you excluded from the program.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want in-person care in Edmond, can pay cash for each visit, and want the nurse practitioner, dietitian and exercise visits that make up the program. If you need video visits, a medication price up front, or hormone or peptide care, ask before you book.
