About MOBO Med Spa
What is MOBO Med Spa?
MOBO Med Spa is a medical spa in Sylvania, a suburb of Toledo, Ohio. Most of what it offers is cosmetic: Botox, filler, Sculptra, skin rejuvenation, microneedling, facials, and head spa. It also offers hormone therapy, testosterone therapy for men, and a medical weight loss program it calls Weight Loss + Wellness. Google lists it as a medical spa and shows a 5 rating from 24 reviews.
The only prescriber MOBO names is its owner, Rebekah Grefe, APRN-CNP, a nurse practitioner. The weight loss program names two medications, semaglutide and Contrave. Hormone therapy is offered as pellets, creams, or oral pills. The Sylvania office is open Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM, with evenings and weekends by appointment only. The phone number is 567-455-3005.
Besides Sylvania, MOBO lists satellite locations and a Bryan, Ohio location that is available monthly. MOBO gives two different street addresses for its Sylvania office, so confirm which one is current before you go.
This listing is for its Sylvania office at 5600 Monroe Street, Bldg A, Suite 202.
What does it cost?
The weight loss program starts at $125 a month, and that price does not include medication. The first visit is $199. MOBO also advertises a free consultation, so ask whether the $199 is a separate step after that call. It also advertises $50 off a first visit of $250 or more.
MOBO says its providers will prescribe weight loss medication and then work with your insurance carrier. If insurance does not cover it, MOBO says it will look for a pharmacy where the medication is affordable. It does not name the insurance plans it works with. There are no long-term contracts, but you must stay enrolled in the monthly membership while you are under care and actively losing weight. In its own words: "once you wean and stop, the membership stops."
Insurance is not required for hormone therapy, but MOBO does not publish a price for it.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask which Sylvania address is current, and whether the Bryan location offers the weight loss program.
Ask who will write your prescription. MOBO names only its owner and refers to "MOBO providers" without naming them. Ask who prescribes at your weight loss visits and at your hormone visits.
Ask whether the $125 covers any medication, and whether the medication is brand-name or compounded. MOBO's materials do not say.
Ask what lab work costs and what each monthly follow-up costs. Follow-ups are required and can be in person or by telehealth.
For hormone therapy, ask for the price, since none is published, and what a pellet insertion costs. MOBO requires a recent mammogram for women and a recent PSA for men before starting. Ask whether those tests are included in the cost.
Finally, ask how the membership ends if you stop early and whether a fee applies.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want a weight loss program with a nurse practitioner as the named prescriber, monthly check-ins, and can cover $125 a month plus the cost of medication. If you want a physician named on your care, or a published price for hormone therapy before you book, get those answers first.
