About Buckeye Endocrinology & Weight Loss
What is Buckeye Endocrinology & Weight Loss?
Buckeye Endocrinology & Weight Loss is an endocrinology practice at 151 Clint Dr., Pickerington, OH 43147, behind the Moo Moo Car Wash. Dr. Puneetpal Bains, M.D., is the physician who prescribes. Dr. Bains is triple board certified in endocrinology, internal medicine and obesity medicine, and has over 14 years of medical experience.
Weight loss is one of several services here. The practice also treats diabetes, thyroid disease, low testosterone, osteoporosis, and pituitary, parathyroid and adrenal conditions, and offers hormone therapy for gender dysphoria. Low testosterone care may include testosterone replacement therapy. The weight loss program names GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP based medications. In its own words: "We set aside up to 1 hour (or more if needed) for each patient so there is no rush to the next patient." The office has a lab on site and is open 9:30 to 4:30, Monday through Friday. Google lists the clinic at 4.5 from 8 reviews.
What does it cost?
The membership plan starts at $150 a month. It covers the evaluation and treatment recommendations, in-person and video visits, direct messaging with the doctor, the doctor's cell phone number, and review of blood work, imaging and glucose data. Medication is not included, and neither are the costs of labs and imaging.
The clinic does not take commercial insurance. It says that if you have commercial insurance, you can still use it for medications, labs and imaging. It takes Ohio Medicaid (CareSource) and Medicare Part B, but Medicaid and Medicare patients cannot join the membership. It says you can cancel if needed, and it does not describe notice or fees for cancelling. It does not publish a consultation fee.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask the consultation fee first, since it is not published. Ask whether any medication is included in the $150 monthly fee, and if not, what it costs each month. If the GLP-1 medication is part of your plan, ask whether it is brand-name or compounded. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost outside the membership, and how your commercial insurance applies to medications and labs at a practice that does not take commercial insurance.
Ask how video visits work and whether they are available to you where you live. Ask what notice and fees apply when you cancel. Confirm that Dr. Bains is the one who would sign your prescriptions.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you are paying cash for endocrine or weight loss care, can manage a monthly fee, and want a physician you can reach by phone and message between visits. If you have Medicaid or Medicare, the membership is not open to you, so ask what your coverage pays for here before you call.
