About Performance Hormone Health
What is Performance Hormone Health?
Performance Hormone Health is a cash pay hormone clinic at 2253 Cloverdale Ave in Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Its main work is hormone therapy: testosterone replacement for men, hormone replacement for women, and thyroid optimization. It also runs a medically supervised weight loss program and offers a consultation. Ashley Hooker, APRN, FNP, FNP-C, MSN is the prescriber, and the clinic calls her its founder and lead provider. She also holds the Menopause Society Certified Practitioner credential, written MSCP. The men's program uses testosterone cypionate, given by intramuscular injection.
In its own words: "We’re based in Winston-Salem, NC, but we serve patients across the entire state through convenient telemedicine." It does not name the states it covers. Labs can be drawn at a nearby Quest Diagnostics, and visits can be done by phone or video. The office is open Monday through Friday 10AM to 7PM and Saturday 10AM to 6PM, and it is closed Sunday. Google shows a 5 rating from 6 reviews.
What does it cost?
The men's membership is $150 a month. It covers testosterone cypionate, follow-up hormone labs, routine appointments, and unlimited messaging with the provider, and the medication is included in that price. The women's membership is $125 a month. It covers follow-up basic labs, appointments, and messaging, but not medication. Estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone for women are often compounded and billed separately by the pharmacy.
The initial assessment is $175 and includes baseline labs. A 60 minute HRT initial assessment is also listed at $200, so confirm which price applies. The first 30 minute consultation is free. In its own words: "We do not bill insurance." No price is published for weight loss management or thyroid optimization. The clinic does not state its cancellation or commitment terms.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether the weight loss program includes any medication, and whether that cost is in the monthly fee or billed separately. Ask whether the testosterone cypionate comes from a manufacturer or a compounding pharmacy, and what it costs each month. Women should ask which compounding pharmacy is used and what the estrogen and progesterone prescriptions cost.
Ask what follow-up labs cost beyond the basic panel, since the membership leaves out specialty labs. Ask how and when you can cancel, and whether there is a minimum term. If you plan to be seen by video from outside North Carolina, ask whether the clinic is licensed in your state, because the states it serves are not named. Finally, ask which intake price you will be charged.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want ongoing hormone care from one named prescriber, you can pay cash, and you are comfortable with medication billed separately for women's treatment. It may not suit you if you need insurance billing, or if you want a weight loss or thyroid plan with a published price before you book.
