What is Wave Aesthetics?

Wave Aesthetics is a medical spa with offices in Wilmington, North Carolina, and on Bald Head Island. Most of its work is aesthetic: injectables, skin treatments and laser treatments. Weight loss is one of its six listed services, alongside a clinical acne program and in-person or virtual consultations.

The clinic lists Whitney Smith, NP, as a nurse practitioner injector, and Allie L as a registered nurse and advanced laser specialist. The weight loss program does not say which provider prescribes its medication. The program uses tirzepatide, which the clinic calls a GLP-1-based medication. In its own words: "Dosing is individualized and adjusted based on clinical response and tolerance, with ongoing medical oversight."

What does it cost?

It does not publish a price for tirzepatide. It does not say whether medication is included in any program fee, and it lists no consultation fee. It does not say whether insurance is accepted.

The prices it does publish are for skin and injectable services. A Signature Facial is $120 for 60 minutes. Memberships cost $100 a month or $1,100 a year for The Mini Wave, and $200 a month or $2,200 a year for The Big Wave. Every membership requires a 6-month minimum commitment. The membership pages do not mention weight loss, and the clinic does not describe how to cancel.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs the tirzepatide prescription, and whether you will see that provider in person or by video. Ask whether the weight loss program has a monthly fee, and if it does, whether the medication is included in it or billed on top. Ask whether the tirzepatide is brand-name or compounded, and which pharmacy fills it.

Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, and whether they are billed separately. Ask whether insurance is accepted at all. Ask how cancellation works, and whether the weight loss program falls under the 6-month minimum that applies to memberships. This is a good fit if you want injectables or skin care in the same place as a weight loss prescription, and you are willing to get the prescriber, the medication and the total cost confirmed before you book. If you need a published weight loss price before you call, this clinic does not give one, so start with the questions above.
