About Wellness By Design

What is Wellness By Design?

Wellness By Design is a physician-owned and operated wellness clinic at 222 N Lafayette St, Suite 12, in Shelby, North Carolina. Victor Zuniga, MD, is the only person the clinic names as a prescriber. He has 25 years of experience in emergency medicine, 18 of them in Cleveland County. The clinic is licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Its work centers on hormone therapy, medical weight loss and peptide therapy. IV therapy, PRP, NAD+ therapy, sexual health treatments, Empower RF and T-Shape are also offered. For hormones, it offers oral medications, patches, creams, injections or pellet therapy for adult women and men. For weight loss, it says it prescribes GLP-1 medications alongside diet and lifestyle guidance. Its peptide menu includes Sermorelin, CJC-1295, BPC-157, TB-500, Semax, MOTS-C, PT-141 and Melanotan II. The clinic has a 5 rating from 50 Google reviews.

What does it cost?

Consultations have published prices. A General Consult without Labs is $99, and a Nutrition Consult is $99. A telehealth visit is also $99, available in North and South Carolina. A Consult with Ultrasound is $150. A Weight Loss consult, which includes a SECA body scan, is $150 per visit, and the clinic does not say whether medication is included. A consult with labs is $350. No-show appointments carry a $25 fee.

It does not publish prices for weight loss medication, hormone therapy or peptides. Its pricing page says to contact the office for service pricing. It does not say whether insurance is accepted, and it lists no membership or cancellation terms.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes each prescription. Dr. Zuniga is the only prescriber named, and the clinic does not say who prescribes each service. Ask whether the $150 weight loss consult includes medication, and what the medication costs per month if it does not. Ask whether each medication is brand-name or compounded, and who fills it.

Ask about follow-up. In its own words: "Monthly follow-up visits are recommended to help ensure your weight loss progress remains safe, effective, and supported by ongoing medical guidance." Ask what each monthly visit costs, and what lab work adds to the bill.

Ask whether you pay per visit or join a membership, and how you cancel. Ask whether insurance or HSA payment is accepted. Ask what NAD+ therapy involves and what it costs, since the clinic gives no detail on it.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you plan to pay out of pocket, can come to Shelby or use telehealth from North or South Carolina, and want a physician-led clinic for hormone therapy, weight loss or peptides. Get written prices for the specific medication before you commit to a program.
