About BIOMe, PC
What is Beacon Internal and Obesity Medicine, BIOMe, PC?
Beacon Internal and Obesity Medicine, BIOMe, PC is a direct primary care micro-practice at 5659 Mountaineer Lane, Concord, NC 28025. Dr. Lori Smith founded the practice and is its physician. The home page says she specializes in internal medicine and obesity medicine. The office phone is (704) 343-5005, and it is open 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday.
Besides weight management, the practice lists chronic disease management, diabetes and hypertension care, women's and men's health, remote patient monitoring, nutritional counseling, and behavioral therapy. On weight loss medication, it says: "In addition to lifestyle modifications, we offer access to effective weight loss medications, including GLP1s (Mounjaro, Zepbound, Wegovy, Saxenda) and other prescription medications." Patients must qualify through a physical examination and assessment. Telehealth is open to residents of North Carolina and South Carolina.
What does it cost?
Membership is $135 per month. Both adult plans carry that price. The primary care plan covers physical exams, routine labs, sick visits, follow-up visits, and referrals. The metabolic and weight plan adds on-site InBody body composition tracking, meal replacement protocols, coaching from a dietitian and a licensed clinical mental health counselor, and remote patient monitoring. Membership fees are HSA and FSA eligible.
The clinic does not bill insurance. In its own words: "BIOMe does not bill health insurance companies, meaning your monthly membership is fixed and predictable."
Non-members can buy body composition testing for $75 per session, $150 for a 3-scan bundle, or $50 for the scan alone. The membership page offers a free 15-minute call with Dr. Smith. No medication prices are published, and the page does not say whether the $135 includes medication. No cancellation or commitment terms are published.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether the $135 covers the weight-loss medication or only the visits. If the medication is billed separately, ask what it costs. Ask whether the medications are brand-name products or compounded versions. Ask what the required physical exam costs and whether it is part of membership. Ask who writes your prescription and whether visits are in person or by video. Ask what lab work beyond routine labs costs, and whether the 12-14 week group program is included. Ask how cancellation works and whether you must commit to a minimum period. Ask to see Dr. Smith's credentials for yourself before you book.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you pay out of pocket for ongoing primary care and weight management, want one physician who follows you over time, and are willing to confirm medication costs before you start. If you need a clinic that bills your insurance, this one does not.
