What is Authentic Health?
Authentic Health is a family medicine and precision medicine practice in Asheville, North Carolina. It began as a primary care office in Asheville in 2005 and now focuses on precision health and longevity medicine. It also runs a clinic at the Biltmore Estate, which serves employees and their families. It has a 4.4 rating on Google from 169 reviews.
Troy Jackson, MD and Gus Vickery, M.D., MD are the physicians listed at the Asheville office, along with Charley Messenger, PA. Cullen Covington-Hicks, PA-C, Leigh Anne Keener, PA and Tim Haren, PA are listed at the Biltmore Estate clinic. Its Women's Health Concierge Program includes hormone optimization and HRT management, with bioidentical hormone therapy when clinically appropriate, and weight and metabolic support with GLP-1 management when clinically appropriate. It also offers Direct Primary Care, IV Therapy, CIMT Ultrasound and body composition analysis.
What does it cost?
The Women's Health Concierge Program is $2,500 a year, and the Women's Health Optimization Program is $4,500 a year. Both can be paid monthly. In its own words: "Your initial lab panel and all services specifically listed within your program are included in your annual program fee." Medication is not included in the program price. Additional testing, imaging, medications, supplements and peptides are billed separately. Repeat blood work may be billed to insurance or offered at a discounted self-pay rate. The clinic accepts insurance, but it does not say whether office visits are billed to insurance.
It does not publish a consultation fee, a GLP-1 medication price, or prices for the Precision Health Evaluation, the Concierge Health Program or individual services. It does not publish membership cancellation or commitment terms.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the GLP-1 prescription and whether the drug is brand-name or compounded. Ask what the medication costs each month, since the program price does not include it. Ask what follow-up visits and repeat labs cost, and whether office visits are billed to your insurance.
Ask whether telehealth visits are available, because the clinic does not state it. Ask which office you would be seen at, since no street address is published for the Biltmore Estate clinic. If you are asking about hormone therapy for a man, ask whether it is offered and what it costs, because no men's pricing is published. The women's program lists peptide recommendations, so ask what those cost. Finally, ask how a membership is cancelled.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want ongoing care from a family medicine practice, you can pay an annual program fee plus medication costs, and you are comfortable asking the questions above before you commit.
