About Prefusion Health
What is Prefusion Health?
Prefusion Health is a cash-pay clinic with three locations, in Bellmore, Stony Brook and Manhattan. Its core offer is testing: DEXA body scans, RMR metabolic tests and VO2 max tests. Its therapies are hormone therapy and TRT, GLP-1 weight loss, peptide therapy and IV therapy. The GLP-1 program names semaglutide and tirzepatide. Prefusion describes its therapies as physician-managed and its physicians as board-certified, but it does not name the prescriber. It does not say whether telehealth is offered, and it does not list hours. It is rated 4.6 on Google from 14 reviews.
This listing is for its Bellmore office at 2570 Merrick Rd.
What does it cost?
Prefusion is private pay and does not bill insurance for scans or consults. Its GLP-1 program is $299 a month. In its own words: "New: GLP-1 for $299 a month. A 12 week low dose program with a PA evaluation, two DEXA scans and check-ins at week 6 and week 12." It lists that price as including the medication. Testing is priced per visit: DEXA body scan $179, RMR metabolic test $179 and VO2 max test $199. Therapy Entry, at $199, covers a consult, DEXA and a full blood panel, and Prefusion says every therapy starts there. Membership is $199 a month, cancel anytime, and HSA and FSA eligible. It does not publish prices for hormone therapy, TRT or peptide therapy, and it does not say whether those would include medication. It also does not state a consultation fee for a medical visit alone.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the prescription, since no prescriber is named, and what that person's credentials are. Ask whether the $299 covers the $199 Therapy Entry visit or whether that is an added charge. Ask which of the two named medications you would be prescribed, and whether it is brand-name or compounded. Ask what follows week 12, including whether check-ins, lab work and medication cost extra, and what each costs. Ask for the price of hormone or peptide care and whether it includes medication. Ask whether a visit with a clinician alone has a fee, and whether telehealth is available if you live outside the three towns. Ask how to cancel the membership and whether notice or a fee applies.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want body composition and metabolic testing before you decide on any therapy, you are able to pay out of pocket, and you are willing to get the prescriber's name and the full cost in writing before you book. It may not suit you if you need insurance to cover any part of the care, or if you need hormone or peptide pricing before you commit.
