About Aesthetic Associates Centre
What is Aesthetic Associates Centre?
Aesthetic Associates Centre is a cosmetic practice at 2500 Kensington Ave in Amherst, NY. Its main business is plastic surgery, with a medical spa alongside it. Dr. Samuel Shatkin Jr., MD, FACS, a board-certified plastic surgeon, leads the practice and is the one prescriber the clinic names. He has been in private practice since completing his plastic surgery training in 1989.
Weight management is one service among several, next to Botox, fillers, laser treatments and surgical procedures such as liposuction and facelifts. The weight program runs six months. It includes a physical exam with starting measurements, baseline labs, a personalized diet plan, an exercise plan, an assessment for GLP-1 receptor agonist medication, and weekly coaching sessions. The clinic names Ozempic, Wegovy, generic semaglutide, Rybelsus, Saxenda, Mounjaro and tirzepatide as medications in this class. It does not list hormone therapy or peptide services.
What does it cost?
The in-office weight management consultation is $100, and that fee goes toward the full program. Semaglutide is listed at $250 for the first month, then $350 a month. Tirzepatide is listed at $350 for the first month, then $450 a month. For comparison, the clinic gives an average medication cost of $1400 a month without a plan. The six-month program itself has no published price.
The program is cash pay. In its own words: "Keep in mind insurance does not cover our program or the medication we provide." Injections are charged each month after the clinic confirms you are a candidate. The consultation and follow-up sessions can be done virtually. Medication can only be shipped to New York residents. It does not publish cancellation terms.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the weight program prescription. The clinic names Dr. Shatkin as its prescriber, but it does not say which clinician handles weight management prescriptions. Ask whether the monthly figure is the full cost of the six-month program, and what the $100 consultation credits toward.
Ask which product you will receive. The clinic names Wegovy, Ozempic and generic semaglutide, so ask whether the injection is brand name, generic or compounded. The weekly injection is also described as part of a B-12 vitamin shot, so ask exactly what is in it.
Ask what labs, check-ins and extra visits cost, since none are priced. Ask how to cancel, what happens to a month already paid, and whether a spot in the current cohort is open, because spots are limited. Call (716) 839-1700 and get the answers in writing.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you live in New York, want a cash-pay program inside a cosmetic surgery office, and are comfortable getting the full price, lab costs and cancellation terms in writing before you pay. It also suits someone planning cosmetic surgery who wants weight management beforehand, since the program is presented that way. If you want a practice whose main work is weight management, this is mostly a plastic surgery practice, so ask more questions before you book.
