What is SkinSational MedSpa?
SkinSational MedSpa is a medical spa with offices in El Paso, Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico. It describes itself as a boutique practice and has served El Paso since 2019. Most of its work is cosmetic: wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, microneedling, Morpheus8, laser hair removal, IV therapy and professional skincare. GLP-1 weight management is one service among these. It does not list hormone therapy or peptide therapy.
The practice describes its weight program this way: "A physician-guided program using prescription medication to support gradual, sustained weight loss following a medical evaluation." It does not name a physician for that program. The only prescriber it names is Cassandra Licon, RN, BSN, a registered nurse. The founder and clinical director, Tracy L. Provenghi, DDS, MEP-C, is a dentist, and she is not named as the prescriber. Google shows a 4.8 rating from 33 reviews.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices for its GLP-1 program or for most treatments. The one price it lists is a VIP membership at $69 a month with a $99 activation fee. Members get 15% off all injectables, 25% off all skincare and free med spa consultations. It does not say whether the membership discount applies to weight-loss care, whether any monthly price includes medication, or whether it accepts insurance. It states no consultation fee for non-members and no cancellation terms.
What should you ask before you book?
Start with the prescriber. Ask who writes and signs the GLP-1 prescription, and whether that person is a physician. The program is called physician-guided, but no physician is named for it. Then ask which medication you would receive. The practice names only "GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy," so ask for the drug name and whether it is a brand-name product or a compounded one.
Next, the money. Ask whether any monthly fee includes the medication, what each visit and lab draw costs, and whether insurance is billed. Ask whether labs are drawn in the office or whether you need records from your primary care doctor, since the practice says lab work or health history documentation is typically required. Finally, ask whether follow-up visits can be done by video, and how a membership is cancelled.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want cosmetic injectables, skin treatments or laser hair removal in a med spa, and you would consider a weight-loss program with a nurse as the named prescriber, as long as you get the answers above first. If you need a physician's name on the prescription before you book, the practice does not give one, so call and ask before you commit. If you are looking for hormone therapy or peptide therapy, it does not list either.
