What is Kalispell Direct Care?
Kalispell Direct Care is a direct-care practice at 430 Windward Way #203 in Kalispell, Montana, in the Wellness Bahr building. Marisa Hoyne, MD, is its physician and the only prescriber named. She is double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine.
It is an adult primary care practice, and obesity medicine is its other main service. Patients can choose either or both. Primary care covers acute problems such as UTIs and flu tests, chronic conditions such as diabetes and thyroid disease, steroid injections, EKGs, cryotherapy for warts and skin tags, sports physicals, and women's and men's health screening. The obesity medicine side covers nutrition and activity counseling, body composition measurement, prescribed medication, and care before and after bariatric surgery.
The medications it names are semaglutide (Ozempic and Wegovy), Mounjaro and Zepbound, phentermine, topiramate, bupropion, naltrexone and orlistat. Dr. Hoyne also prescribes thyroid, blood pressure and vitamin D medicines, plus oral and IV iron. Visits can be in person or by video, and patients can call, text or email Dr. Hoyne directly.
What does it cost?
It charges $125 a month with a $125 enrollment fee, for internal medicine, obesity medicine or both. Patients must be 16 or older. It does not accept insurance, and a membership is not insurance. In its own words: "The patient pays a monthly fee to the medical office and then can access care as needed, without an additional fee at the time of service." Visits, calls, texts, steroid injections and EKGs carry no added fee in the clinic. Membership can be cancelled at any time.
It does not publish a consultation fee. It does not say whether the monthly fee covers medication, and it does not publish medication prices.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask whether the $125 monthly fee covers weight-loss medication. If it does not, ask what each prescription costs on top of it. Ask whether the drug prescribed to you is brand-name or compounded. Ask what a consultation costs, since none is listed.
Ask what lab work, imaging and follow-up cost if you have no insurance. If you do have insurance, lab, imaging and specialist care are covered under your plan as usual. Ask about the fee that applies to patients who join, cancel and then rejoin. Ask for office hours, since none are listed. Appointments are requested by email to Dr. Hoyne, and the office phone is (406) 743-3299.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you are an adult who wants one physician for ongoing primary care, obesity medicine or both, can pay a monthly fee outside insurance, and wants direct access by call, text, email or video. Get the medication answers in writing before you pay the enrollment fee.
