About Intuition Health

What is Intuition Health?

Intuition Health is a sports medicine and primary care practice at 3130 Saddle Drive, Suite 2, in Helena, Montana. Its prescribers are Erik Vilen, M.D., who is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, and Janna Vilen, M.D., who is board-certified in family medicine and sports medicine. Both are co-owners. Erik Vilen previously spent three years as chief of primary care for the Montana VA HCS.

Its services are primary care, weight management, hormone therapy, pain management, sports medicine, PRP and prolotherapy, Regenexx, DEXA scans, metabolic health evaluations, health and longevity programs with coaching, fitness and athletic performance, and veteran services. Weight management and hormone therapy are two of those services, and much of the practice is sports medicine and musculoskeletal care. It serves patients from East Helena, Montana City and Clancy as well as Helena. Its Google listing shows a 4.9 rating from 62 reviews.

What does it cost?

It is cash pay only. In its own words: "As such, we do not take insurance of any kind." It does not publish prices. That includes its monthly memberships, its weight management and hormone programs, its PRP and injection treatments, and a consultation fee.

Primary care runs on two monthly memberships, Basic Primary Care and Advanced Primary Care. The Advanced membership adds healthspan assessments, coaching and additional support. It does not describe membership terms or how cancellation works.

Its appointments, labs, testing and imaging are FSA/HSA eligible. It offers a 10% discount to veterans and active duty. It does not say whether any medication is included in a program.

What should you ask before you book?

Erik Vilen and Janna Vilen are the two prescribers, but it does not say which of them handles weight management or hormone therapy. Ask. Ask too whether the monthly fee includes medication, and if it does, which medication and whether it is brand-name or compounded. It names no medication for either program.

Ask what the Intro to Intuition Health Services Visit with Erik Vilen costs. Every prospective patient is asked to book one before becoming a patient. Ask what follow-up visits, labs and any imaging cost on top of a membership, and whether you can cancel at any time.

It does not list hours or say whether visits can be done by video, so ask both. If PRP is part of your plan, ask whether any prescription pain medication is given afterward and who decides.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want an ongoing primary care relationship with physicians who also treat joint and muscle problems, you are paying cash, and you are comfortable getting prices and prescriber details in writing before you commit. If you need insurance billing, or you want a specific weight loss or hormone medication named up front, call first and ask the questions above.
