About The Med Bar

What is The Med Bar?

The Med Bar is a spa-style clinic at 5706 S Lindbergh Blvd in St. Louis, MO 63123. Most of its menu is wellness and aesthetics: IV hydration, vitamin injections, an oxygen bar, microneedling and neurotoxins. It also offers lab draws, nurse practitioner consultations, hormone replacement therapy and weight loss injections. Google lists it as a medical spa, with a 4.9 rating from 42 reviews.

Sarah Geerling, APRN, FNP-BC, MSN, is the one person named as a prescriber. She is the founder and a board-certified family nurse practitioner. The rest of the team includes registered nurses and a registered dietitian, and none of them is named as a prescriber.

Hours are 9AM to 5PM Monday through Friday and 9AM to 3PM on Saturday, and the clinic is closed Sunday. The phone number is 314-270-3084. Select treatments can be done at a home, workplace or event for a travel fee starting at $50.

What does it cost?

The only published clinic price is a New Patient Consultation at $199 per visit. It is the entry visit for hormone replacement therapy. It does not say whether medication is included in that price. A hormone refill visit costs an amount that varies by medication, and no figure is given.

It does not publish prices for its weight loss programs. The wellness memberships are priced separately: the Drip Membership is $69 a month, the Shot Club is $109 a month and the Cocktail Club is $139 a month. Shot Club members pay $25 for each additional wellness shot.

Membership terms state that benefits roll over while the membership stays active, that credits are forfeited on cancellation and cannot be transferred, and that 30-day cancellation notice is required. It does not say whether insurance is accepted, or whether HSA or financing is available.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes the GLP-1 prescription and who oversees it. In its own words: "WE WORK UNDER PHYSICIAN OVERSIGHT AND FOLLOW EVIDENCE-BASED PROTOCOLS FOR SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS." It does not name that physician, so ask for the name and how often they review each plan.

Ask which GLP-1 medication the program uses, and whether it is brand-name or compounded. The clinic does not name the drug.

Ask whether the monthly fee includes the medication or bills it on top of the fee. Ask what the Skinny Shot included in every program is, and whether it costs extra.

Ask what baseline labs and follow-up labs cost. The weight loss programs call for follow-up labs as often as every three months, and hormone therapy has its own lab panels.

Ask whether check-ins can be done by telehealth, and whether insurance is accepted. Finally, ask how cancellation works for the weight loss programs, since the 30-day notice rule is listed only with the wellness memberships.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want hormone, weight loss or wellness care in a spa setting, you are comfortable paying cash, and you want to meet the nurse practitioner before committing to a plan. It is a weaker fit if you need published weight loss prices, a named medication or insurance billing before you call.
