About St. Louis Bariatrics

What is St. Louis Bariatrics?

St. Louis Bariatrics is a bariatric surgery practice at 10296 Big Bend Rd, Suite 206, in St. Louis, Missouri. Most of its work is weight loss surgery: gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, gastric banding, revision surgery and the gastric balloon. Its non-surgical option is a Medical Weight Loss Program that uses prescription medications, including Semaglutide (Wegovy®), Tirzepatide (Zepbound®) and phentermine among its oral medications. It does not list hormone therapy, peptide therapy or longevity care.

The practice is led by Jay Michael Snow, FACS, MD, who has more than 15 years of experience. He is the only physician the clinic names. The clinic describes its medication program this way: "Lose weight and keep it off with FDA-approved medications prescribed and monitored by a board-certified bariatric surgeon." Google shows the clinic at 4.9 from 655 reviews, under the category weight loss service.

What does it cost?

The clinic does not publish a monthly price for its medication program. Its comparison chart shows a five-year out-of-pocket figure of $30,000 for medical weight loss, and a footnote builds that number from medication at $500 a month. It does not say whether $500 is what a patient pays, whether a monthly fee covers the medication, or whether the five-year figure includes visits and lab work.

For surgery, it lists a special self-pay price of $11,111 for gastric sleeve and an average self-pay cost of $16,400 for gastric banding, both marked subject to change. Financing and self-pay options are listed, and the chart marks financing as available for medical weight loss. The same chart marks insurance coverage as available for medical weight loss, but the clinic does not say which plans it accepts or whether medication is covered. It does not publish a consultation fee.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes and renews your prescription, and how often you will see a physician. The clinic names Dr. Snow as the physician behind the program but does not say who handles prescriptions day to day. Ask whether any visits can be done by video, since the clinic does not address telehealth.

Ask whether the monthly fee includes the medication, and whether the drug is the brand-name Wegovy or Zepbound or a compounded version. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, and whether they are part of the $30,000 figure. Ask whether insurance covers the medication itself, not only the visit. Ask for the consultation fee, the cancellation terms, and whether you would be locked into a contract. Ask for office hours, which the clinic does not list. The office number is (314) 366-4874.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want medication-based weight loss overseen by a bariatric surgeon, you plan to pay cash or finance, and you want written answers before you commit. It is a weaker fit if you need video visits that the clinic has not described, or if you are looking for hormone or peptide care. If surgery is what you are weighing, compare the surgical prices above with what you are quoted in person.
