About Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness

What is Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness?

Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness is a medical spa at 1108 Platte Falls Road in Platte City, Missouri. Most of what it offers is cosmetic, from facials and microneedling to laser hair reduction and injectables. Its medical side covers a medically supervised weight loss program, bioidentical hormone optimization, IV's and injections, and IgE allergy testing. The owners decided to start the MedSpa in 2022. Google lists it as a medical spa with a 4.9 rating from 37 reviews.

Certified Nurse Practitioner Hilary Shoemaker is the prescriber named. The weight loss program names semaglutide and tirzepatide and uses compounded injectable medications or other prescribed oral medications. In its own words: "Some of the programs include compounded medications with personalized care plans." Hormone care covers creams, injections and BioTe pellets.

What does it cost?

Consultations are free. BioTe men's pellets are $750 and women's pellets are $350. It does not say whether those prices are per insertion or per period, or whether the medication is included. Initial hormone labs are $250, and follow-up hormone panels are $60.

The weight loss program has no published price. In its own words: "Transparent, all-inclusive monthly pricing will be determined on current market trends and availability of medications." Its weight loss lab panel is $150, with a thyroid panel available for $75 more.

The VIP membership is $130 a month with a one-time $25 set-up fee. It banks $115 of in-house credit each month, includes one free treatment from a short list, and gives 10% off products and services. The contract runs 6 months, then renews month to month. Cancelling needs 30 days' written notice, and leaving early costs the lower of 3 months' fee or the rest of the term. HydraFacial memberships run $120 or $150 a month, also on a 6-month commitment. Care Credit is accepted, and the weight loss medications are described as potentially HSA compatible. It does not say whether insurance is billed.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask whether the weight loss medication is brand-name or compounded, and which one you would start on. Ask whether the monthly fee covers the medication, visits and labs, and what your full monthly total would be. Ask who signs the prescription, and whether the follow-up visits every 4 weeks can be done by video, since telehealth is not mentioned.

Ask whether the pellet price covers the medication, insertion and follow-up labs, and how often you would need them. Ask what follow-up labs cost once you start, whether any insurance is billed, and what you would owe if you cancel early. The weight loss program is open to adults aged 18 to 75, and pregnancy, breastfeeding and certain chronic conditions, including diabetes, are listed as reasons it does not apply.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want cosmetic treatments and a medical weight loss or hormone visit at one address, and you are ready to pay cash or use Care Credit. It is a weaker fit if you need a published weight loss price or insurance billing before you commit.
