About Paradox Health

What is Paradox Health?

Paradox Health is a direct primary care family medicine practice in Rochester Hills, Michigan, run by Philip Hellman, MD (family medicine) and Lyndsi Davenport, DO (internal medicine). Direct primary care means you pay a monthly membership instead of billing insurance, and in exchange you get unlimited visits with the doctors, in office or by phone, text, email, or video. Weight loss care (listed as a Weight Loss Clinic, with Semaglutide named) and Testosterone Replacement Therapy are offered alongside the practice's main work, which is everyday family medicine: acute and chronic care, wellness visits, DOT physicals, EKGs, joint injections, prolotherapy, PRP, allergy drops, and longevity planning. This is a primary care office that also treats weight and hormones, not a clinic built around either one. Dr. Hellman founded the practice in March 2018 after working in conventional primary care; Dr. Davenport joined after a career teaching internal medicine residents.

What does it cost?

The published prices are for the primary care membership itself, not for weight loss, hormone, or peptide treatment specifically. Individual monthly membership runs from $40 (ages 0 to 19) up to $100 (65 and older), with adults aged 20 to 39 at $60 and 40 to 65 at $80. Family plans add children at $30 a month with a household ceiling of $220 a month for one or two adults and their kids. Employer plans for groups of five or more run $60 per adult per month. Paying a year in advance gets you one month free, and there is no contract for individual or family plans. Separately, the practice lists wholesale pricing on some generic medications (for example a 90 day supply of Lisinopril 10mg at $2.39) and lab pricing (a cholesterol panel at $3.91), along with prolotherapy at $30 a session for members versus $150 for non-members. None of this tells you what Semaglutide or testosterone therapy itself costs, or whether it is covered by the membership fee.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask directly whether the monthly membership covers the weight loss or hormone program, or whether those are billed on top of it. Ask what Semaglutide costs per month and whether it is brand-name or compounded. Ask which doctor, Dr. Hellman or Dr. Davenport, would be managing your care and writing prescriptions, since both are listed as prescribers. Ask what lab work is required before starting testosterone therapy or Semaglutide, and what that costs beyond the panel prices already mentioned. The practice does not accept insurance at all, so ask how that affects any specialist referrals you might need later.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want an ongoing relationship with a primary care doctor who also happens to offer weight loss or testosterone treatment, and you are comfortable paying a monthly membership with no insurance billing. It is less of a fit if you are looking for a clinic built specifically around weight loss or hormone therapy with published program pricing and dedicated staff for that purpose.
