About Rivas Medical Weight Loss
What is Rivas Medical Weight Loss?
Rivas Medical Weight Loss is a medical weight loss practice, and weight loss is what it mainly does. It calls itself physician-led and has over 30 years of experience in medical weight loss. It does not name the person who prescribes. It has 15 clinic locations across Maryland, Virginia and Florida, with offices in towns including Towson, Annapolis, Bowie, Ellicott City, Frederick, Rockville, Silver Spring, Waldorf and Fairfax, Virginia. It also offers telehealth and serves patients from Baltimore and Catonsville. Its Google rating is 4.9 from 408 reviews.
It offers tirzepatide, semaglutide and phentermine, along with GLP-1 Microdosing and a GLP-1 Support Program for patients whose insurance covers the drug. Tirzepatide and semaglutide come as brand-name Zepbound and Wegovy and as compounded versions. It also offers B12 injections and aesthetic treatments such as Emface, Exion, Emsculpt Neo and Emsella. It does not offer hormone therapy, peptide therapy or longevity medicine. In its own words: "Schedule an in-office appointment to meet weekly with a medical provider."
The Towson office is at 7801 York Rd #305, Towson, MD 21204, (410) 583-5677.
This listing is for its Waldorf office at 3500 Old Washington Rd Ste 201.
What does it cost?
The initial visit is $195. Tirzepatide is $165 a week for any dose, and semaglutide is $115 a week for any dose. Both include weekly visits and injections given on site. Phentermine starts at $115 a month, with bi-weekly visits. The GLP-1 Support Program is $100 a visit, and packages are available. It does not say whether the weekly price includes the medication. It does not publish prices for GLP-1 Microdosing or the aesthetic treatments.
Insurance is not billed. Invoices are provided for reimbursement if your insurance pays for part of the visit. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and Cherry Financing and CareCredit are offered. There are no contracts and no hidden fees, but it does not describe its cancellation terms.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes the prescription before you book, since no prescriber is named. Ask whether the weekly price includes the medication, and whether the drug is brand-name, filled at a pharmacy, or compounded and given in the office. Ask what follow-up visits and lab work cost, because none of that is published. Ask how cancellation works, since there are no contracts but no terms are given. If you are considering an aesthetic treatment, ask its price and whether your HSA or FSA covers it. Confirm the suite number when you book, because Towson appears with both #305 and #350.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want in-person weekly visits for a prescription weight loss program, can pay cash or with an HSA or FSA card, and want the prescriber's name and the full weekly cost confirmed before you book. It is not a fit if you are looking for hormone therapy, peptide therapy or longevity medicine, since it does not offer them.
