About Aegle Radiant Health

What is Aegle Radiant Health?

Aegle Radiant Health is a cash-pay practice at 4 Union Park Rd. Suite 20 in Topsham, Maine. Its physician is Amanda Cardella, D.O., listed as a board certified family medicine osteopathic physician with DipABLM after her name, and she has 10 years of experience as a primary care physician. The practice is mainly about lifestyle and weight management, with GLP-1 support as one service among several. The others are DEXA body composition and bone density scans, VO2 max and resting metabolic rate testing, Lumen, Prolon, osteopathic manipulation therapy, Full Plate Living nutrition guidance, a one-year membership, and lifestyle medicine.

The GLP-1 program names Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound. It is written for people who are already taking one of those or another GLP-1, and it does not say which medications the practice prescribes to new patients. In its own words: "With more than 10 years of experience prescribing GLP-1 agonist medications for patients with diabetes and obesity," the practice says of Dr. Cardella. Plans can include in-person or telemedicine visits. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with other days by appointment. The practice is rated 5 on Google from 24 reviews.

What does it cost?

The practice is self-pay and does not bill insurance. The GLP-1 Optimization Package is $1,000. It includes four DEXA body composition scans, performed about every three months, two DEXA bone density scans, and nutrition education with meal plan access. The package page does not say whether medication is included, and it does not give a medication price.

The initial consultation is a two-hour visit at $500. Single tests are one-hour sessions: body composition at $200, VO2 max at $250, resting metabolic rate at $200, bone density at $250, and osteopathic manipulation therapy at $250.

The membership costs $250 to join and $250 per month, starting on the 1st of the following month, on a one-year commitment. It covers the included testing, Full Plate Living nutrition guidance and physician guidance. That $250 is for the practice membership, not for medication. The practice does not publish prices for Lumen or Prolon, and it does not say what happens if you stop before the year ends.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who writes the prescription for a new patient, and which GLP-1 medication they would start with. Ask whether the $1,000 package includes the medication or whether you pay a pharmacy separately, and whether the medication is brand-name or compounded. Ask what the required lab work and follow-up visits cost, since neither is priced.

If you are considering the membership, ask whether the GLP-1 package counts toward it or is billed separately. Ask which membership visits are in person and which are by telemedicine, and whether the monthly follow-up meetings are included. Ask for the prices of Lumen and Prolon. Finally, ask how cancellation works during the one-year commitment and whether any part of the membership fee is refundable.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you already take a GLP-1 medication, want body composition and bone scans reviewed with a physician, and are prepared to pay cash. If you only want one test, the single-service prices need no membership. If you need the practice to bill insurance, this setup does not do that, so settle the questions above before deciding.
