About Riverlight Restorative Health

What is Riverlight Restorative Health?

Riverlight Restorative Health is a cash-pay practice at 191 South Main Street in Brewer, Maine, inside the Kinetic Wellness building on the river. Its services are peptide therapy, IV nutrient therapy, medical weight loss and men's health. Urgent Care also appears in its menu, but nothing describes it. Google lists it as a medical clinic, with a 5 rating from 12 reviews.

Medical weight loss starts with a 1.5-hour consultation with Joanna Liberatore, FNP-C, MSN, whom the clinic describes as a board certified family nurse practitioner. She works with you to work out which medications, hormones, peptides or amino acid blends may suit you. In its own words: "Weight loss medication may be prescribed to help complement the weight loss diet or exercise." Blood work and an EKG are ordered, and regular follow-up visits are required.

Men's health covers testosterone by injection, testosterone creams and gels, erectile dysfunction medications and what it calls testosterone stimulating medications. The peptide section names BPC-157, Thymosin Beta-4, GHK-Cu, TB-500, Pentadeca Arginate and Bremelanotide PT 141. The clinic also lists suturing, minor wound care, high-dose vitamin C for cancer patients and lactated ringers for POTS patients with a doctor's order.

What does it cost?

The consultation is $275 for a 1.5-hour visit. The clinic does not say whether medication is included in that price, and it does not publish prices for weight loss medication or the program itself. IV therapy ranges from $155 to $235, not counting glutathione and NAD, and weekend IV visits carry a $100 upcharge.

It does not accept insurance at this time, but it offers superbilling, which gives you a superbill, a receipt-style form you can submit to your insurer yourself. There is a Payment Plans page, but its text lists no terms. It has no packages yet, though it says it will offer them in the near future. It publishes no membership or cancellation terms.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who prescribes testosterone and peptides. The clinic names only Joanna Liberatore for the weight loss consultation and does not say who prescribes the rest. Ask whether the $275 covers any medication, and what each medication costs on top of it. Ask whether each peptide or drug is FDA approved, since the clinic's own disclaimer says many peptides aren't. Ask whether the product is brand name or compounded, and where it is filled.

Ask what the blood work, EKG and follow-up visits cost and how often you will need them. Ask whether telehealth is available and what hours the office keeps, since none are listed. Confirm the suite number too, because the clinic gives both Suite 4 and Suite 6 for that street address. Ask how to cancel and whether any membership applies. If you are considering Urgent Care, ask what it covers.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are an adult paying cash for medical weight loss, testosterone or peptide care in the Brewer area, and you want written answers on the prescriber, medication costs and follow-up before you book. It is a poor fit if you need insurance to cover the visit or if you are under 18, since the clinic sees patients 18 and up.
