About IV MD

What is IV MD?

IV MD is a physician-owned practice at 19560 Old Scenic Hwy., Ste. D, in Zachary, Louisiana. It describes itself as a hydration, wellness and rejuvenation clinic, and most of its services are IV and injection therapies. Those include IV Hydration Therapy, IV Enhancers, Vitamin Injections, Oxygen Therapy, NAD+, IV Exosome Therapy, Weight-Loss, Peptides, memberships, eGift cards and Kismet Ketamine Clinic. Weight loss is one of those services, not the whole practice.

The weight-loss program uses semaglutide, tirzepatide and retatrutide. IV MD says these are compounded medications made by 503A and 503B pharmacies. The first order covers a minimum of three months, and the first month is picked up in person so a nurse can teach you to inject. The first consultation is held by phone with a doctor. No prescriber is named anywhere in its materials. Google lists IV MD as a medical clinic with a 4.9 rating from 26 reviews. It is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday 10-6 and Saturday 9-4, closed Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, and it says walk-ins are welcome. Two phone numbers appear, 225-570-5056 and 225-615-4558, so confirm which one reaches the front desk.

What does it cost?

The weight-loss consultation is $99. In its own words: "A $99 consultation fee applies and will be collected at the time of scheduling to reserve your appointment." After the first three months, the follow-up visit is $49 per visit. IV MD does not publish a price for the medication itself. It says pricing varies by dosage, pharmacy and additive, and that the provider reviews options at consultation. It does not say whether medication is included in the consultation or follow-up price.

IV and vitamin therapies need a separate $30 medical consultation, which covers one calendar year of those services. Card payments carry a 3% processing fee. Financing is available, and FSA and HSA payments are accepted. It does not say whether insurance is billed. The required lab work, including a CBC, CMP, A1c, lipid panel and thyroid tests, is not priced. Memberships and eGift cards are listed without prices. IV MD also lists a price range of $75 to $3199 without saying what that covers.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who the prescribing physician is and whether you will see that person at follow-up. Ask whether the $49 follow-up includes medication, and what one month of your medication costs. Ask which pharmacy fills your order and what compounded means for the strength you receive.

Ask whether labs from within the last three months can be used, and what any new labs cost. Ask whether follow-up visits can be done by phone, and whether the $99 is credited toward treatment. Ask whether insurance is billed. Finally, ask how to stop refills and cancel, since the card you place on file is charged for each refill order.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a cash-pay weight-loss program with a set first order, in-person injection teaching in Zachary, and you are comfortable with a card kept on file for refills. If you need a named prescriber, a total monthly price or insurance billing, get those answers in writing before you book.
