What is Southern Skin and Wellness?
Southern Skin and Wellness is a cosmetic dermatology practice at 644 Camp Street in New Orleans, in the central business district. Michael Lindley, MD, manages and adjusts medication and performs the laser, injectable and medical weight loss treatments himself, with Kathryn, RN, assisting. Cosmetic work is the main focus, from laser skin rejuvenation and laser hair reduction to acne scar and melasma treatment.
The weight loss program uses GLP-1 medications, including semaglutide (in Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (in Mounjaro and Zepbound), with brand-name and compounded options both available. The practice also offers bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for men and women. In its own words: "prescribed only after laboratory evaluation confirms a deficiency." It is open 10AM to 6PM Monday through Friday, with Saturday and Sunday by appointment. Its Google listing shows a 5 rating from 62 reviews.
What does it cost?
It does not publish prices. The medical weight loss program is sold as a monthly membership, described this way: "The program is offered as an all-inclusive monthly membership, so you know the cost up front rather than watching it accumulate visit by visit." Membership includes access to the physician, the nurse and the metabolic nutritionist, plus a discount on IV therapy.
It does not publish whether the medication is part of that monthly fee, whether insurance is accepted, what the consultation costs, or how cancellation works. Costs are covered at the first consultation.
What should you ask before you book?
Start with the monthly fee. Ask whether it covers the medication itself, and what brand-name and compounded options each cost, since both are offered. Ask who writes and adjusts each prescription, and whether a clinical pharmacist is part of your program.
Ask what the laboratory work and follow-up visits cost, whether insurance is accepted, and how cancellation works. Ask whether any visit can be done by video, which is not published. If hormone pellets interest you, ask about the trade-off: a pellet cannot be adjusted or stopped once it is placed.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want cosmetic skin work and medical weight loss or hormone care from one physician, and you are ready to pay cash for a membership whose full cost you will confirm before you sign. If you need a published price or insurance billing before you call, you will have to ask for both.
