What is LCMC Health Urgent Care?
LCMC Health Urgent Care is a walk-in urgent care clinic in Uptown New Orleans, part of the LCMC Health system. Most of its work is no-appointment care for illnesses and injuries, backed by on-site X-rays and lab services. It also offers flu shots, veteran care under the VA's MISSION Act, routine, sports and pre-employment physical exams, DOT testing, and virtual visits for most symptoms and conditions, ages 12 and up. Google lists it as an urgent care center with a 4.5 rating from 719 reviews.
Medical weight loss is one of its services, offered at select locations. The clinic names Uptown New Orleans, Chalmette, Clearview and Gretna as places where the program is available, and it asks patients to call to book. The program uses semaglutide and tirzepatide injections, which the clinic describes as the same active ingredients found in Ozempic and Mounjaro. It refers to its physicians, but it names none of them.
This listing is for its New Orleans office at 5800 Magazine St A.
What does it cost?
Urgent care is a flat self-pay fee: $75 covers non-provider visits for x-ray or in-house lab orders only, and $170 covers most services during a provider visit, with exclusions that may apply. The clinic accepts most major insurance plans. For weight loss, the monthly visit is $70, not including the injection. Shipping is $30, and initial labs are $42, repeated every 3 months.
Monthly prescription prices depend on the drug and dose. Semaglutide is $160 for doses from 0.25 to 1mg and $280 for 2.0mg. Tirzepatide is $230 for 2.5mg, $260 for 5mg, $290 for 7.5mg, $320 for 10mg and $500 for 15mg. The clinic does not publish an initial consultation fee. It does not say whether the medication is included in the monthly prescription price, or whether insurance applies to the weight loss program. It publishes no membership or cancellation terms.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs the prescription, since no prescribing provider is named for the program. Ask whether the monthly prescription price is the medication itself, and whether the $70 visit and $30 shipping sit on top of it. Ask whether the drug is brand-name or compounded, and which pharmacy fills it. Medication ships from Pharmaceutical Specialties in Baton Rouge.
The clinic's own wording on delivery does not match. In its own words: "We offer at-home injections only." Elsewhere it says, "Whether you choose weekly in-clinic injections or opt for at-home doses." Ask which applies to you. Also ask what follow-up visits and repeat labs cost, which days the program runs (it lists Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 am to 6 pm), and how to cancel.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you need walk-in urgent care, a flu shot, a sports, pre-employment or DOT exam, and you want to look into the weight loss program at one of its locations. It is a closer call if you want a named prescriber, an itemized monthly price, or a clear answer on at-home versus in-clinic injections before you pay.
