What is Jill Gibson, MD?
It is a women's health practice in Covington, Louisiana, with a second office in Franklinton. Its main work is OBGYN care, including gynecology, contraception, menopause, prenatal care and 3D or 4D ultrasound. It also offers medically assisted weight loss, BioTE hormone pellet therapy and body contouring. The prescriber is Jill Gibson, MD, MD. Dr. Gibson is a board-certified gynecologist who trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
The weight loss program uses semaglutide or tirzepatide, which the practice also names as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro. It runs as 16 weeks of visits, and the practice describes it this way: "We recommend a 16 week program of once a week office visits for weigh-ins, medication management, and diet review." It takes male patients for weight loss as well as female patients. The practice serves patients across the Northshore, including Mandeville, Slidell, Hammond, Madisonville and Abita Springs.
What does it cost?
The typical total for the 16 week weight loss program is $1750, which is $100 a week plus a $150 initial lab charge. In its own words: "This includes your labs, office visits, and medications." The first 4 weeks and the labs are paid up front, $550, before the program starts. On a high deductible plan, the initial labs may cost $800 to $1000 out of pocket, and HSA funds can be used. Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, are accepted at the practice.
After the 16 weeks, it offers a once a month maintenance program. It does not publish that price. It does not publish a consultation fee or per-visit prices. Specials run through the year and are posted on its Facebook page.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who signs each prescription and whether the $1750 covers the medication for every week. Ask whether the medication is brand-name or compounded, since it does not say. Ask whether follow-up can happen by video or phone, because it does not say whether telehealth is offered and the plan is built on weekly visits. Ask for the office hours, which it does not list.
Ask what the monthly maintenance costs, whether it includes medication, and how cancellation works, including whether the $550 paid up front is refundable. It limits how many weight loss patients it takes, so ask whether it is accepting new ones. For the pellet therapy, ask what insertion costs and how repeat blood work and visits are charged. Ask which office your weight loss visits happen at, since no street address is published for Franklinton. The phone number is 985-898-5990.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want women's health care and a supervised weight loss program from the same office, you can keep weekly visits for 16 weeks, and you are comfortable paying $550 up front. It is worth calling if the answers to the questions above work for you.
