About Rock Creek Wellness

What is Rock Creek Wellness?

Rock Creek Wellness is a cash-pay clinic at 5401 College Blvd #203 in Leawood, KS 66211, serving the Kansas City area. It has been open for 20+ years and describes itself as concierge longevity medicine. Hormone therapy is the center of the practice, using estradiol, progesterone and testosterone in pills, patches, gels, injections and pellets. In its own words: "We offer it to women in perimenopause and menopause, and to men with low testosterone confirmed by testing."

Prescribers are Mark Strehlow, MD, the medical director, Mark McPhee, MD, Angela Barnett and Hannah Osborn, APRN. No credential is given for Angela Barnett. Other services include Regenerative Treatments, IV Therapy, Sexual Wellness, Cosmetic Injectables and Cognitive Health. It also has a Medical Weight Loss program, and new patients in it get a DEXA scan included when they establish care. It does not name a peptide treatment or a GLP-1 medication as a service. Google reviews give it 4.8 from 24 reviews, and it is listed as a medical clinic. It is open Monday through Thursday from 9AM to 5PM and Friday from 9AM to 4PM.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices for hormone therapy, weight loss, peptides or longevity care. It also does not state a price for its broader whole-health plan or a membership fee. The first consultation is free: 30 minutes with one of its providers to talk through your options and whether it is a good fit for you. Hormone care is cash-pay, so insurance does not cover it. Financing is available through CareCredit, with no interest if paid in full within 6 months on a minimum purchase of $200. It does not state whether hormone medication is included in any price, and it does not give cancellation terms.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who will sign your prescription. Hormone-only patients see Hannah Osborn, APRN. Patients on the broader plan see Mark McPhee, MD, Angela Barnett or Hannah Osborn, APRN. Ask whether any monthly fee includes the medication. Ask whether your hormones are FDA-approved or compounded. In its own words: "We most often prescribe compounded hormones, because compounding gives us more room to set the dose and combination for each person." Ask what the first-visit labs cost, and what follow-up costs: about 6 weeks after your first appointment, every 3 months until your levels are on track, then twice a year. Ask which prescriber treats weight loss patients and which medication, if any, is used. Ask how cancellation works. If you are under 35, ask whether you qualify, since the minimum age for hormone care and Sexual Wellness is 35. Ask whether follow-up visits by video through the patient portal are available for your plan.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you are a woman in perimenopause or menopause, or a man whose low testosterone has been confirmed by testing, you are at least 35, and you are ready to pay cash and ask about medication costs before you book. If you want a posted price list before you call, this clinic does not publish one.
