About AHTA

What is AHTA?

AHTA is a hormone therapy practice at 11100 Ash St Ste 108 in Leawood, Kansas. Its copyright line names the business as Advanced Hormone Therapy and Aesthetics, LLC. AHTA has provided hormone therapy since 2015, and it describes its work this way: "AHTA specializes in Hormone Replacement Therapy."

Dr. Katie Sutton, MD, is the medical director and the only prescriber named. She is a board-certified OB-GYN with A4M HRT training. AHTA offers hormone therapy for men and for women, pellet hormone therapy, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), and Diet & Wellness, its weight loss program. Weight loss is one service here, not the whole practice. The office is open Monday through Thursday, 9a to 5p, and Fridays by appointment only. The phone number is 913.348.4330. Google lists the practice under Doctor, with a 4.9 rating from 34 reviews.

What does it cost?

It does not publish prices. It does not say whether medication is part of any fee, whether it accepts insurance, whether it offers HSA or financing, or whether telehealth visits are available. AHTA states that consultations do not obligate you to any of its services, but it gives no consultation fee. Pellet insertion is an in-office procedure, and AHTA offers prescriptions by mail that can be self-administered at home. Ask about each of these separately, because nothing AHTA publishes shows how they are billed together.

What should you ask before you book?

Start with who prescribes. Dr. Sutton is the only prescriber named, but AHTA also refers to a hormone specialist and a practitioner who review labs and set the plan. Ask who you will see at each visit and who signs each order. Then ask whether the fee includes the medication, and whether that medication is a brand name product or compounded. AHTA calls its pellets bioidentical, which does not answer that question on its own.

For Diet & Wellness, AHTA names no weight loss medication, so ask which, if any, is part of the program and what it costs each month. Ask what the lab work costs, what follow-up costs (AHTA schedules it about a week after you start therapy), and whether pellet insertion is billed separately from the visit. Finally, ask how cancellation works and whether stopping early carries a fee.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you have already decided to pay cash for hormone therapy, want a physician with OB-GYN and hormone training overseeing it, and can keep weekday daytime appointments. It is a poor fit if you need published prices, a named weight loss medication, or telehealth before you book. Get those answers before you pay anything.
