What is Live Young Medical?
Live Young Medical is a medical spa at 112 Gaul Dr., Sergeant Bluff, IA 51054, phone (712) 216-7272. Most of what it offers is aesthetic: Botox, dermal fillers, Kybella, Plexr treatments, mesotherapy and facial treatments. Its health and wellness side includes medical weight loss, IV therapy, sexual health, anti-aging and a VIP membership program. It is open Monday to Wednesday 9 am to 7 pm, Thursday 9 am to 5 pm, Friday 9 am to 4 pm, and Saturday 9 am to 3 pm by appointment only. It is closed Sundays and holidays.
Dawn Bonham is the only prescriber named. She is the founder and owner, and she describes over a decade of experience as a registered nurse. Google lists the business as a medical spa, with a rating of 5 from 3 reviews.
Medical weight loss is the largest part of the health and wellness menu. It includes GLP-1 injectables, GLP-1/GIP injectables, sublingual GLP-1 drops, and oral medications such as metformin, phentermine, naltrexone and tesofensine. Its anti-aging list includes Epitalon troches, GHK-Cu Acetate cream and glutathione injections. Its listing description mentions hormone therapy, but no hormone program appears on the menu.
This listing is for its Sergeant Bluff office at 112 Gaul Dr.
What does it cost?
It publishes three monthly VIP tiers: $275 a month (Refreshed), $450 a month (Renewed) and $600 a month (Rejuvenated). Each monthly amount is banked as credit toward treatments and retail products, with savings of 10%, 15% and 20% on services. The Refreshed tier covers 4 weeks of GLP-1 injectables and an InBody scan, and GLP-1/GIP costs extra. The Renewed tier covers all GLP-1 injectables or most GLP-1/GIP injections, with higher dosing at extra cost. The Rejuvenated tier covers GLP-1/GIP injectable doses and an InBody scan every 4 weeks.
It does not publish a per-injection price, a consultation fee, or whether medication is paid from the credit beyond what each tier lists. It lists financing through Care Credit and Cherry, and it does not say whether it accepts insurance. New clients receive a $50 gift card on their first visit. Injection storage and administration are offered for a fee, but no amount is given.
On cancellation, the clinic's own words are: "You may stop at any time. However, a 60-day notice is required." Leftover credit has to be spent on skin care, treatments and injection services, or applied toward a gift card.
What should you ask before you book?
Ask who writes your prescription and who adjusts your dose between visits. Ask whether a physician is involved in your care, and how side effects are handled when you cannot reach the office.
Ask whether the GLP-1 injections are compounded or brand-name. The weight loss list describes one injection as compounded but does not say which others are. Ask whether your monthly credit pays for the medication in full, and what one injection costs if you pay outside a tier.
Ask what the consultation costs, and what lab work and follow-up visits cost. Ask whether a hormone program is offered. Ask whether follow-up can be done by video, since no telehealth option is named. Ask whether any insurance is accepted, or only financing.
For the anti-aging products, ask which ones need a prescription and which are supplements. Ask whether unused credit can be refunded if you leave, or only spent on services.
Who is it a good fit for?
This is a good fit if you want aesthetic treatments and a medical weight loss program under one roof, and you are comfortable paying a monthly membership that is banked as credit. It is a less clear fit if you need insurance billing, a hormone program, or a prescriber other than Dawn Bonham.
