About Freedom Medical Center

What is Freedom Medical Center?

Freedom Medical Center is a faith-based medspa and wellness clinic in Fortville, Indiana, at 401 S. Merrill Street. In its own words: "Compassionate, Christian-based medical care in Fortville, IN." Medical weight loss is one of several services. The others are health optimization (hormone care "if needed"), IV infusion therapy, Tox and filler, Hydrafacial, microneedling, facials, same day sick visits through Freedom QuickCare, and retreats for women at Freedom Acres & Stables. The clinic names one prescriber, Kayla Huffman, FNP-C, who has spent the past five years practicing as a nurse practitioner. Telehealth and mobile services are limited to Indiana. Google reviews give the clinic 4.9 from 109 reviews.

What does it cost?

Weight loss is sold as a month to month membership with 30 day cancellation notice. GLP-1/GIP runs $370 to $575 a month and GLP-1 runs $330 to $540 a month, both depending on dose. Freedom Slim is $125 a month and includes four weekly Lipo-Mino-C injections given in the clinic. The initial visit fee is applied to the first month, but its amount is not published. Supplement only plans cost $45.50 for one month or $75.80 for two. Freedom QuickCare costs $100 for an in office visit or $50 for an Indiana telehealth visit. The clinic accepts cash, card and HSA or FSA. It will submit a superbill to insurance for any service but does not guarantee reimbursement. It does not publish prices for health optimization, IV therapy or skin services.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask who signs each prescription and who covers when Kayla Huffman is not available. Ask whether the monthly GLP-1 price includes the medication, since the membership description lists medication without saying whether it is in the price. Ask whether the medication is brand name or compounded, and who makes Lipo-Mino-C, which the clinic describes as its own formulation. Ask what the initial visit fee is, and what lab work and follow up visits cost. Ask whether the 30 day notice covers a payment already made. Freedom Slim injections must be given at the clinic, so ask how often you would need to come in. Finally, confirm the address. Most of the clinic's listings give 401 S. Merrill Street, but one heading on its website gives 412 South Maple Street.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you live in Indiana, want medical weight loss or hormone care from a nurse practitioner, and are comfortable with prayer offered at your visits. It is probably not the right fit if you need a physician as your prescriber or want insurance billed directly.
